Where the hell did you hear this? It's about 50kcal/per 150g a broccoli mainly made up of fiber. Even if there is protein in there it's not a complete protein source.
Agree with everything else you said about broccoli, that's why I eat it 3xa day. Just wondering - is there any truth to the rumor that steaming it lowers the nutritional value?
To the OP - back loading is an excuse to be a fat ass... Eat clean

I would still eat clean. I'm not going to backload on pizza and icecream. Healthy carbs is how I would do it. I'm doing the 6 meal/day thing right now. Eating healthy, right amount of protein, etc.
I'm trying to gain mass at the moment as well. I started at 142lbs. 13 weeks in now, and I'm at 154lbs. Looking to be about 165-170 by next summer.

Flash steaming doesn't lower the nutritional value. Eat it with black pepper. Black pepper has no value, but it increases absorption rate with what you're consuming into the body.
It looks like the guy in your picture has eaten some broccoli...

I wouldn't back load with cookies, ice cream, etc... but I would get in a pasta dish and splurge with it being anything you want on occasions. Careful with what crap you put into your body regardless of how it makes you look. Doctors like to call this "skinny fat". My buddy is ripped and doctors told him he was prime for a heart attack...how? His cholesterol was through the roof and albeit he worked out and looked good, the oreos weren't doing him justice.
Number 1 food for your body? Broccoli and it's not EVEN CLOSE. Broccoli has more calcium per serving than milk, more vitamin c per serving than an orange and more protein per serving than a steak. It fights off amnesia, all cancers, heart disease, lowers your blood pressure and lowers your cholesterol. It dominates any other food for your body and you can ALMOST live exclusively off broccoli and water. The amount of folate in it is staggering and it's the number one thing a man should get in their diet and that's folate. Good luck and wish you well, but the old saying holds true...
You are what you eat.

You're buying some expensive stuff and albeit there are debates as to whether all the stuff from gnc works, I'm still BIG on all natural foods. Your body craves it and responds tremendously. Go get dumbbells... Get a pair of 20's and 45's.
The only way you get big is to lift big and you have to have a pair that you can really rip yourself with and a pair you can bulk with. P 90 x is good for fat guys like me. Yes, you'll get ripped, but you need mass right now.
I would also suggest eating a big meal late night. You have to start packing on pounds and they might be a little bad for you now, but in six months, you'll gain 15 pounds of muscle if you have the frame for it.
Remember, everybody's body responds differently, but we all have one thing in common. Our bodies are BEYOND intelligent and can adapt to anything (smoking every day, drinking, drugs, lack of sleep, etc...), so you must ALTER your workouts and this is why there's NOTHING better than bigger, faster, stronger.
It was used at one point in the 80's by barry sanders, michael jordan, the new york yankees and dallas cowboys. How's that for a resume??? And it's principles are still used today by strength coaches.
Good luck, eat clean and stay mean! Results don't come overnight, so hack at it every day and expect nothing, but look to gain EVERYTHING.

Big John, I like to buy mine frozen organic. I get about 5 ounces of water cranking and throw it all in until it's BRIGHT green and hard still. If I see any green in the water (almost every time), I drink the water as well.
btw, I use Zero Water and find it great. I really like the taste of the water and it gives you a reading to how much crap is in your water. Best if it reads 0....
I don't like to juice broccoli and I think its just personal preference. I do have a juice that I love....
carrot, beets, apple, cucumber, spinach and wheatgrass. I throw in flax seed and wheat germ and you have a liver transplant ready to take place in t-minus 5,4,3...
