Funny you say that....on the way to Baton Rouge a few years ago for a game, I passed an LSU fan in a SUV and he had a bumper sticker that read "2 time BCS National Champions 2003, 2007" on it.....your own state doesn't even recognize 7 national titles on your bumper stickers!! lol

Never said all. I would bet, at any home AU game 60-70% in attendance are alumni or students. I was also referring to fans in general, not just those at games. It is much easier to jump on a band wagon and pull for a team that makes it easy to be a fan. Many AU fans, myself included feel like to win and be successful we have to work harder and overcome more adversity to get to the top, so it is a most vested fandom, and that's why the majority of fans, 60-75% are alumni.

The funny thing to me in the Alabama-Auburn fans debate is that if you reverse the allegations, they're still true.
- Most AU/UA fans didn't go to the school!!! (That's true!)
- AU/UA fans obsess about UA/AU!!! (Yep, both true.)
- AU/UA fans believe the other school to cheat on a global Freemason conspiratorial scale!!! (Both true.)
- AU/UA fans always take the childish moral high ground and/or are completely delusional!!! (Both do, so yeah.)
I could go on and on, but the fact is, we're all from the same state and draw from the same cesspool. Nevertheless, we each have about the same percentage of "fans" who never stepped foot in a classroom on campus and get all crazy at really stupid stuff and take it too seriously. Alabama fans probably took the Cam Newton saga too far, but then again, Alabama has never had boosters literally buy off a player from the other team to make up allegations to try and force a probation (looking at you AU/Gene Jelks). At the end of the day, we're equally proportionate in retardation among alleged fans.
The major differences between Bama and Auburn come when you actually start comparing the programs themselves.
Alabama has more national titles, no matter how conservatively you count them, than Auburn may ever win in our lifetimes. Alabama has more NFL Hall of Fame alumni than AU may ever have a chance to claim in our lifetime. Alabama has more bowl game appearances, wins and All-Americans. Auburn, to its credit, only has more Heismans. That's about it. These are all claims based in fact.
So I guess when it comes back to fans, who you root for is either a matter of what you were stuck with at birth (sort of like being Catholic, huh?) or whether or not you just prefer to cheer for stepchildren underdogs, or a football team that treats the game like the United States treats war - they don't lose and can't process such a concept.

I agree with most of that post. All except the part about the same % of fans being alumni. That is simply not true. There is an old saying that can not be argued in this state.......not all Bama fans are trailor trash. But all trailor trash are bama fans. I guess the use of the absolute ALL is pushing it but for whatever reason the majority if the poor folks in this state love them some Alabamy football. I would assume it is because bama won so much in the seventies. A time some of these poor folks look back on fondly......you know...back when everyone in Alabama was poor.
