Chance for NFL 2K15?

  • EA license is up at the end of 2013. To this day, NFL 2K5 is still the best football game ever released as far as game play goes. Is it possible that 2K is working on NFL 2K15? I would really like for a good football game to be released again.

As its already known, EA lost its license on NCAA football. Hopefully we have a developer, even if it isn't 2K, step up and make a quality NCAA game.

Just made this for discussion purposes. No links, no sure things. Only rumors, hopes, and dreams. Could be less than 2 years away from another 2K football game, or EA could pay to extend the license and continue putting out garbage with no competition.

  • I fvcking hope so. I've stopped playing these football games lately. Same games, new rosters.

It reminds me of the call of duty franchise at this point. Some competition in the market will make it better for everyone.

  • Just for fun, here is a good comparison between NFL 2K5 and Madden 12. 7 years apart... Madden should easily win, right?

SportsGamerShow - Madden NFL 12 vs NFL 2K5

Madden NFL 12 is out and although the game has gotten mostly positive reviews, there are still gamers out there who insist the game can't hold a candle to NFL 2K5. 2K5 is regarded by many as the best football video game of all time and has a dedicated following, with fans keeping it alive by creating roster updates to this day. Is this the year Madden finally silences the NFL 2K5 crowd and becomes king of the video game gridiron? Watch the latest SGS episode to find out. • I had the 2K games when I had a dreamcast. My favorite football series. Those players had like 9 foot verticals though.

Just think, NFL 2K5 wasn't even this generation. If it means we can get NFL 2k15 on PS4, I can skip yet another year of Madden.

  • This is my list of expectations:

-graphics that are at least ten-fold better than current Madden
-franchise mode that includes general manager, coach and owner opportunities
    -season mode
    -online season
    -online franchise
    -be a pro
-the ability to coach after you retire
-create a play with customizable playbook
-I want full realism with every fan, vendor, ref, coach and every player detailed
-integration with a sports news group to bring news, fantasy, scores and updates in a in-game section
-at least a 200-300 deep soundtrack
    -realistic chants and player-fan interactions

    Etc. etc.

  • I spent many a weekend in my younger days playing through franchise mode with Steve "Air" McNair and the Titans, and Jerome "The Bus" Bettis and the Steelers. Man, I miss those times. Each game 2k felt like an entirely new game. Madden feels like you could play the same script 4 or 5 times in a few days.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

I'd also like to add integration with throwback teams, stadiums, uniforms and players.

Sorry, just feeling rather nostalgic lately. There's a ton that could be ton to make a perfect football game, if someone was willing to sit out a couple of seasons to perfect it instead of mass producing a half-assed product because the market dictates they'll more than make their money back because of the franchise name.

  • You were always seeing new animations, even after playing the game for a year. A catch, a tackle, something would happen that you hadn't seen before. The double teams by the offensive linemen. Anyone ever notice? Just watched a video, and there were 2 double teams on a single play. Defense only rushed 3. The guards and tackles took the 2 ends, while the center handled the nose tackle solo. It was quite a site. I love how in Madden, you'll have 2 offensive linemen stand there like they are brain dead while the defense rushes 3.

    Another source of inspiration.

Add as realistic as possible AI to my list as well.

  • I have always wondered if the producers at EA are actually hardcore football fans...because they would fix stuff that is super obvious to any football fans.

My biggest pet peeve in all football games is how in the trenches, there is always a "winner" and "loser". OL/DL play needs to be a battle, sometimes you get pushed around a little but still create enough room for the back to squeeze through or just enough time to let the QB release a 50 yard bomb

    A man can dream...
