Check out FSU's awesome one year old practice fields

  • I guess it's tough to explain environmental factors that have contributed to the field issues. The issues have been corrected. Irrigation, soil and sunlight, kiddos.
    IPF is ful steam ahead.

  • Of the "major" programs, who besides FSU and Texas Tech do not have indoor facilities? Heck, even scrubby little Baylor has a nice one.

  • UF does not have one and apparently does not plan to have one anytime soon. Foley is more concerned with putting big money into being good in all sports, both mens and womens. For example, three years ago we spent 11 million on a brand new Lacrosse stadium for the new womens program. Within it's first two years, the women have become a main stay in the top 5 nationally. The field is VERY nice and used as a practice field for football at times as well.

Can't say I necessarily like or agree with it, but that's the way it is. Not having an indoor facility didn't stop us from winning three natl titles in the last 15 years or having the most wins in the nation since 1990. We do get alot of lightning and I've heard that Muschamp has tried to push for an indoor facility of some sort, but that might just be rumor.

To me, football is the cash cow. If we can improve as a program then it's worth building one. Apparently there literally isn't anywhere near the stadium to put another field now. We'd have to build a dome over an existing field. That's one of the hang ups more than money I'd imagine.

Gotcha. Was just curious. I don't think it's any kind of deal breaker (obviously, considering UF and FSU) when it comes to recruits, but I will say that Baylor got their money's worth out of their investment. (Considering the volatile weather, super high temps, and more media coverage of late)

    USC has never had one.

It can pour rain in Oct through Dec. They used to practice in the Sports arena on really bad days but all they could do is walk through plays on a hard wood floor. This facility will give them the ability to run plays indoors at full speed. One of the players tweeted pics and got in a little trouble. They're trying to keep it under wraps until it's open.

We have been trying to raise money for one for what seems like the last 16 years ( really 4 or so )

The plans are sweet if they ever happen

I am shocked you don't have that already. Wasn't FSU the first to put a classroom in their stadium to get tax-exempt financing for the stadium? (May be the last too, not sure if that works).

Its the south, alot of schools in the south don't have indoor facilities

Atcually only 2 teams from the SEC, DONT have indoor facilities.. UF and Vandy, an Vandy is building their's right now I believe. At UF we have no problem getting the funds, our boosters will fork out that $$$ anytime. But we dont have room on campus for an indoor facility, we would have to move alot of stuff around.

There ia literally nowhere to put an IPF. IMO they should put one of those goofy ballon type cover over the vet college and practice amongst the cows and horses.

How can a program like FSU not have that.

We aren't in a rush to get one b/c Miami nor FU has one. Now b/c of Jimbo we are actually raising the money to get one.

If not for Jimbo, we wouldn't even be thinking of building one.
