Chickfila President says Company opposes gay marriage

Actually God forgave and also Jesus forgave Adulterers in the Bible.

So why does god change his mind in the space of one book?

You do know that if gay marriage is legalized, then Catholic Churches wouldn't have to perform gay marriages anyways?

yes, it still doesn't change my belief that marriage should be between a man/woman

  • It seems like there's an abundance of hypocrites on this board.

Why can't we tolerate homosexuality and religion? Those gay Christians are screwed.. No pun intended

Yes, I have a hole in my soul because I don't believe legislation based on biblical principles is constitutional.

If you want to believe in imaginary friends who rule your life, that's your business. But when that stupidity infringes on the freedoms of others it's a problem.

Like a supposedly omnipotent god can be cool with having people killed and them change his mind with the new religion and then forgive them?

That's cool, but your personal belief (and forward to a majority collective) has no bearing on the rights of citizens in this country.

  • I often wonder how I am viewed by followers of my faith. I am Catholic (spent 12 years in Catholic school), and follow many traditions and principles of the religion: transubstantiation, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as three different entities, ever-lasting life in Heaven, etc. Those beliefs are important to me, and help strengthen the relationship I have with God (the Father).

On the other hand, I am staunchly pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and pro-birth control. These beliefs help form who I am as a person. While I still (proudly) identify as a Catholic, I am becoming more and more disappointed with the beliefs of the Church. Not sure if that makes sense or not. shrug

I reckon that is why about every President from Truman to Obama sought counsel with him.

  • Well your beliefs have an effect on everyone. If you believe in abortion then you vote for the candidate that will make abortion legal. Christians aren't the only people that shove their beliefs on other people.

Beliefs are fine and shoving them are what democracy is about.

However, if it infringes upon other's rights then it's not cool.

What do you not understand about beliefs being personal? You don't like abortions, don't have one, Don't believe in gay marriage, fine. You are saying that in order to believe what you believe others must adhere to your rule of what you see as right. This is the antithesis of freedom.

Yeah, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy because Christians feel like their religious beliefs are being attacked and gay people want equal rights. Each side wants tolerance but neither side gives it.

See Roe vs Wade circa 1973, iirc.

Christian's seem to be the only group trying to push legislation that is based on biblical principles and THAT is a problem. I don't care what someone else believes just so long as they don't try to force me to live according to those beliefs.

What is so difficult to understand here?
