Chickfila President says Company opposes gay marriage

  • Murrdawg69 said...

Thats the way it has been and the way it will always be. When the founding fathers were writing the Declaration about all men being created equal, did they not have slaves at that time?

I like your ideals and "glass half full" thought process, but the reality is we will NEVER live in a society that operates like that. We have it the best in America no doubt, but we also have people with opinions on certain issues, and if the majority think the same way, well then that's the way it is. Somebody's "rights" will always be infringed upon...always.

So because it can't be done right now, or because it's "always been done" this way, those of us that are idealistic should just give up? I'm not programmed to think that way.

Only ignorant people oppose gay marriage, regardless of political affiliation.

This is dumb. Gay people can't be "married". It has nothing to do with ignorance. Going Buck is probably going to cry when she sees this thread.

You're completely ignoring the fact that we don't live under majority rule. We have defenses that protect the rights of minorities.

  • By the way, more facts on Catholicism regarding homosexuality:

    1. St Thomas Aquinas placed homosexual sex as the 2nd worst sin, behind murder.

    2. In France during 1200-1400, if someone practiced homosexual sex, they would be castrated for a first offense. Then they would have their penis cut off. Then, if they somehow practiced again, they would be burned at the stake and forfeit their property.

    3. During the Spanish Inquisitions, anyone found to be a homosexual was stoned, castrated, and burned.

There are more. I'll post them as needed.

This is the ultimate problem with religion in politics.

FOTF is only concerned with 'protecting the sanctity of marriage' because there is support for gay marriage. If there was no support for gay marriage, they would take it 1 step further and remove adoption rights for gay couples. If there was no support for that, they would take it to the next step, and the next step, and the next step, until we had government sanctioned camps where people go to 'get straight'.

The same thing applies with creationism in schools. The creationists want a 50-50 split now because it's currently only evolution. If it was 50-50, they'd lobby for 67-33, then 90-10, then 100-0. Then they'd lobby for scripture in schools.

They are completely unwilling to comprimise because they are deluded enough to think they are doing the word of god.

    You assume much, grasshoppa.

Ask Devidee. He is the one characterizing organizations. He should be able to adequate answer.

RabbitSC, what organizations does CFA support that "actively works to suppress gay rights" and how are you characterizing these organizations?

I don't have time to research every donation Chik Fil A has ever made right now, but here are their donations from 2009:

Marriage & Family Legacy Fund: $994,199
    Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000
    National Christian Foundation: $240,000
    Focus On The Family: $12,500
    Eagle Forum: $5,000
    Exodus International: $1,000
    Family Research Council: $1,000

From Wikipedia, "Exodus International is a non-profit, interdenominational "ex-gay" Christian organization that seeks to limit bisexual and homosexual desires." The official organization motto is "Proclaiming Freedom from Homosexuality." That's the definition of anti-gay.

These are the primary objectives of the Marriage & Family Legacy Fund from their own materials:
    1. Raise contributions to support a national public sentiment campaign to provide “air cover” for local marriage initiatives
    2. Plan and implement this public sentiment campaign including media, effective internet strategy and a documentary film

Essentially, it's an organization that puts on media campaigns to support local anti-gay marriage initiatives. They got nearly $1 million from Chik Fil A in 2009.

The characterization of Chik Fil A as a company that supports anti-gay causes is not in dispute, they're not even denying it.

Thanks for the research. I'm printing this out and taping it to the visor in my car. Whenever I get an urge for chick fil a, I will simply stare at the visor until the urge passes.
