Never said he is a great coach since great coaches have to coach 10+ years in my opinion. Auburn finds ways to win games. They are a hard team to read. They could struggle against Hoover High School then come back and beat LSU (not saying its going to happen this year) the next week.

I was never a believer, even last year. But this season has shown that he is a solid coach. I think it is hard to dispute now.

Right now I really think 7 is possible. We have Arky, UF, and UGA left that are possible toss ups to give us a 7th win. We lose to bama, LSU, and Clemson for sure. The SEC West is gonna be even more of a War Zone with AU constantly improving and A&M joining. The mix of A&M, Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas is good enough for a small conference let alone a division

And I'm comparing him to strictly to the SEC coaches. He does find away to win, but he owes a lot of the success to Malzahn and Trooper (for his recruiting efforts). He's smart enough to have surrounded himself by a damn good staff...

that's what a HC is supposed to do. Recruit and Manage. Not call plays. That is why you have coordinators. Chiz is one of the best at both Recruiting and Managing.

Chiz is a 'defensive' specialist, right? AU has yet to put together a good defensive team.

Oh, I know, I wan't taking it as a flame. I was just giving my opinion of a HC's main two responsibilities and how Chizik has done.
A head coach has two responsibilities.
1. Surround himself with a capable staff. Gus, Luper, Trooper, and Thigpen are some of the best recruiters in the nation. Gus is the top OC in the nation, and one of the best QB coaches as well. He brought Rocker back and look at what he did with NF. Bolaware (sp) has turned our special teams into one of the top units in the nation. Grimes is a great OL coach (we just suck this year... play the freshmen)
2. Recruiting doesn't seem to be an issue with Chizik either. Say what you want about the debit cards and whores... but the man can recruit. He just needs to get some LB's.

He's definitely surrounded himself by the right people (so far). It's going to be interesting to see how he progresses from here on out...
