The Blue Board

Just got back from visiting the folks in Hot Springs Arkansas. Cool little town with a lot of history. I really liked it there and am happy they are restoring the old bath houses that used to be the spas of the rich and famous. I was a little surprised by the freak ice/snow storm that covered everything in ice and then buried it in a foot of snow on christmas eve. I ran the downed tree and power lines obsticle course back to the hotel the next day and stayed there until the 4 salt/plow trucks the state owns could clear some of the mess. Then I tried to sneak out of Hot Springs heading east on 70, making my way around more downed trees across the highway turning much of the 4 lane highway into a one lane road. Once I got out of Hot springs and onto 41, driving became much better. Along the drive heading to Nashville, the number of giant crosses and religious billboards were only outnumbered by the number of porn shop and strip club billboards. We stopped for a few days in Nashville, Tennesee. While there we went to the Shrek Ice attraction (pretty cool, litterally). we also headed downtown for a few nights. The first night we ate at BB Kings where we had some really good food that was accompanied by some really great music. The next night we went ot the Grand Ole Opre at the Ryman Theatre. I recommend that for anyone going to Nashville even if you are not a big fan of country music. Really good time and the little ones loved it. I thought Nashville had a really cool downtown bar and restaurant scene. Really cool city. Overall we had a really good time.
