Class of 2006 247Composite ILB

  • 1. Sergio Kindle, Dallas (Texas) Woodrow Wilson (Texas)
    2. Micah Johnson, Campbell County (Ky.) (Kentucky)
    3. Brandon Graham, Detroit (Mich.) Crockett (Michigan)
    4. Marcus Ball, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson (Florida State)
    5. Brandon Spikes, Shelby (N.C.) Crest (Florida)

Obviously Spikes is the class of the top five. I would have liked to have seen what Marcus Ball could have done had he not had the injury issues. Was a very fast linebacker/good hitter if I recall.

  • Didn't Marcus Ball switch to FB and fumble a game winning TD at the half yard line for FSU? Lol

And lol @ TV heads saying Spikes was too slow to be an effective LB in the league. My all time favorite Gator.

Johnson and kindle both ended up as very good ends right?

Kindle played the BUCK in Muschamp's defense which is essentially a WDE/OLB hybrid.

That was Marcus Sims (Ernies bro)
Marcus Ball (brother was QB at GT with C Johnson) was very talented but succumbed to injury/grades issues (IIRC)

That's him. Thanks, dub. Great play, huh? That was NCST too, right?

And ok, I remember Ball now. Dreads, tats and golds, iirc. Too much goon in him.

At that time it was the kinda play I was used to.

I thought, like rich and handsome, you could never be too goon?

  • Brandon Graham was a monster. He was the only good player on every defense he was on at Michigan, and he's been doing well for the Eagles.

  • Marcus Ball was a nasty player, but just loved the weed to much and stayed in trouble. He would have been a first rouder if he did not get kicked out of school. Marcus Sims also should have played linebacker, because unlike Wilder Jr who is a good running back Sims was not good.

    That Stephenson team was loaded......

    LB: Marcus Ball- Florida St
LB: Perry Riley- LSU, Washington Redskins
LB/DE: Jermaine Cunningham- Florida, New England Patriots
LB: Kelvin Sheppard- LSU, Buffalo Bills

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

Stephenson is always loaded, I believe something I insane like 21 kids signed LOIs last year. They just cant get over the hump and win state, always a good team never great.

Agree. Sims should have stayed at LB. maybe would've taken his career a little further. Unfortunately we didn't have the leadership by then to look at players as anything but recruiting stats.

M Ball. So much talent. SMH. Another lost one during the lost decade.

    According to the 247Composite, yes.

At Rivals, I am pretty sure he was a five-star and a top 10-15 prospect.

Yeah I remember thinking after they both got to Baton Rouge that LSU really had snuck into Georgia and taken two good ones in Riley and Shep. Excellent players.

Yeah a lot of those classes were rated high, but a lot of those players either did not make it to school, were kicked off the team or transferred.

Kindle actually had the better statistical year when he played SAM and Brian Orakpo was the BUCK. Muschamp would take a DT off the field on 3rd down, and rush Kindle and Orakpo right next to each other. Fun stuff. Was disappointed to see that Ronald Powell got injured because he would have/will thrive as a BUCK in that defense.

  • Micah Johnson was a monster as an MLB (what he played at UK). He should have stayed with his hand on the ground, though, (he was ranked #2 in the country @ DT by Scout, if I remember correctly). He gave us 4 good years, and graduated. Bounced around a few times, though, in the NFL. Side note. He was at Fort Campbell, not Campbell County.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..
