Class of 2012 All-American Team

Noah Spence is the most dominant defensive lineman an proved it in the All American game him not being on there when he had 3 sacks is simply crazy, you guys really are showing favoritism an I aint even a Buckeye fan I am a Cane but I realize he's the best .

This is a different animal than prospect rankings. This is a combination of high school performance and long-term projections. That's why we release rankings and an All-American team. Otherwise, we would just roll out the rankings and be done with it.

As for the favoritism comment, that's hogwash and you know it.

Tee Shepard is the best CB in this class.

I disagree, but even if he was, we weighed on-field performance (stats) putting this team together.

Winston not a 5 star is just plain crazy. Then to have Kiel of all the qbs out there is just plain wrong.

No, it's pretty simple. The 27 guys ahead of him in the rankings are better prospects. That's the justification and time will tell if we were right or not.

  • Congrats to UVA. Looks like they're loading up. I like London too. Also, Tracy Howard is a UF and UM race with FSU and their rapping QB in 3rd. Bahaha

See when you look at it, it's not really that easy.

Did he actually have Amari Cooper on that list? That's crazy.....no way should he be ahead of a guy like Green-Beckham who is FAR and AWAY the top receiver.

    wut?

Wasn't trying to be a jack@ss. That said, it does appear that the geography reviewed for the list was somewhat limited.

3 of the top 5 Linemen in the Country come from the same state? The top 2 RB's both come from the same state also? Almost 50% of the entire list comes from a total of 3 states? I know that 50% of NFL rosters and College players do not come from 3 states. Just seems like a limited scope.

Regardless, good to debate I guess. And obviously there is no science to this, with mainly a lot of educated "guessing."

The two RB's from Texas just had phenomenal seasons at the highest level.

Trey Williams 3,890 yards were a Texas 5A single season record. He broke Cedric Benson's Texas 5A record by 364 yards.

Johnathan Gray put up 3,891 yards and 70 touchdowns, so that clearly speaks for itself in 4A football in Texas. That is an all-time 4A state record for a single season.

Those are two of the best seasons in the history of a state that has produced running backs such as Adrian peterson, Earl Campbell, Billy Sims, Kenneth Hall, David Overstreet and many, many others over the course of the state's history.

    How are we showing favoritism?

The two DEs that got it over Spence are Adolphus Washington (fellow Ohio State commit) and Darius Hamilton (Probable Rutgers commit). Who exactly are we favoring?

They also had clearly better seasons than Spence. Spence had 12.5 sacks, Adolphus had 23.5 and Hamilton had 22. I don't know how many times we have to say that production is factored in for the All-American teams.
