are you seriously upset by an average 1.65 discrepency in the composite with 247 rankings as it pertains to recruiting rankings?

USC just came off a 7-6 season , the coaching staff is in disarray, and we are still in the middle of sanctions. Recruiting was the only bright spot USC fans had this season.

So yes it is disappointing, especially considering that USC commits played pretty well in their all-star games.

Yes that too is being built. It won't be in long format like that. I will fit with everything else we do. We are fired up about it.

That's awesome! I think it will help fans understand why a particular player is ranked the way they are but from analysts who's analysis we actually find worthwhile. Only good thing about the ESPN recruiting coverage. Otherwise they suck

If you KNOW they're better why does it matter? The stars mean nothing once the rubber meets the road.

ESPN and Yahoo Sports constantly blast USC with negative articles. USC fans become overly defensive as a result.

But you're definitely right. It's better to have USC commits come in with a chip on their shoulders anyway

I can't believe Ole Miss and Mississippi State are going to sign the top two players. Pretty sure we could live for a 100 more years and never see that one again.

Maybe.....Might see State with a couple in the Top 5 in the near future.

Would also like to see which analyst has scouted the player in person. Would make it much easier to shoot a PM his way if we have a specific question on said player.

I think he might be questioning the 24.4 spots lower in rank as a total average in 24/7 rankings compared to the composite for USC commits. Including 11 of 12 being ranked lower.

    USC commits taking a tumble.......

    because you.....know.

Hey, look- I cracked the Dixie code with my Oval-teen de-coder ring.
I took out the 2nd, 4th, and 7th words and low and behold, look what it exposed.
The "C" word. No, not cunt,
    Counterfeit!

You guys gotta get this de-coder ring, look at what it does to the 24/7 rankings.
Just set it to "Top 27 recruits in the West not committed to USC" and hot diggity dog
    24/7 ave ranking = 153.5
    Composite ranking = 193.5

The 27 Western recruits (left out recent de-commits EV, Fitts, and Redfield)
that are not committed to SC are ranked (40 spots) on the average
better than they are in the composite rankings.

24/7 really loves these 27 guys.
Only 1 recruit out of the 27 had a ranking more than 15 spots lower than his composite rank.
22 of them were ranked higher by 24/7 than in their composite rank.

Now set your de-coder ring to "12 USC Commits"
24/7 ave ranking = 89.5 (with only 1 of 12 ranked higher than composite)
    Composite ranking = 65.1

Awesome, add "USC commit" next to a recruit's name and
presto - 24.4 spots on average lower ranked by 24/7 than in the composite rankings.
Holy cow, 24/7 really hates these 12 guys.

Now I know why Kiffin had one of his players switch jerseys during a game.
Because based on the apparent philosophy of this site,
what jersey you wear is way more important than how good you are.

Settle down, I'm sure this is all just one big co-inky-dink.

Well, I'm off to go play with my new red rider BB Gun - be careful ......
or I'll shoot your rankings out

We have a rankings history module coming for profile pages that will show where a prospect was ranked throughout the process. It will show both 247Sports rating/ranking and 247Composite in a line graph format so you can get an idea of risers and fallers quite easily.

Will that be out this recruiting cycle?

Personally I could give 2 squirts about recruiting rankings. But I feel the people that do care about it should at least be told the truth and know the agenda behind the rankings.

    Certainly raises some credibility
issues. I'm just surprised that they made their bias so obvious.

Once the line graph module displaying rises and falls of a recruit's ranking comes out, IF there truly is a bias it will irrefutably exposed

Too bad it won't be out this recruiting cycle.. Expect the line graph of a USC recruit to look like this:

Seriously you need to get over it... Perhaps they are honestly evaluating that talent? By the way, you still have the 7th ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports (only three spots down from the composite) with only 14 commits... if 247 was out to get USC I highly doubt they would keep them so highly rated. Getting upset about being #7 instead of #4 is ridiculous.

Like I said, USC recruits are an average of 25 spots below the composite rankings.

    That is extremely unusual.

I'm not bothered about the difference between a #4 and #7 class. On the other hand, USC members pay subscription fees too and if the rankings are incorrect or biased in any way, shape, or form, the staff is obligated to fix it.

I'll consider this recruiting season an anomaly. But if the trend continues in future seasons, then it's obvious there is a bias.

Dominated what? Class 2A football in the worst part of South Carolina for talent? He was a projection all along and it was more than his injury that forced him out.

Time will tell on all of these players, though.

What you posted makes no sense... Where did he play last year when he was ranked high? Every report before his injury was he was dominating. Did he change schools or did they drop a classification?

Also.. What puts Anzalone ahead of Mitchell? Size, speed, athleticism and production all favor Mitchell. Was Pa HS FBall that much better than Texas this year?

I really don't care about the rankings, just an observation.

    That's fair.

But I still think that there is an unconscious predisposition to favor recruits who are closer to where you live. It's not wrong or right - it just is what it is. Having a balanced staff in terms of location would help iron those wrinkles out.
