We know Webb is a huge Michigan lean and also know it's unlikely we ever make a big push. We offered because he deserved it after the way he camped. "Never hurts to try" line of thinking. We've always recruited kids from Cass since Les has been at LSU. Landed one(Barksdale) and came close with the DT(can't think of his name). As you and others posted, we have a ton of closer options that we feel great about. Hard to tell exactly who will be pressed but I have doubts Webb will be one just because of the pure depth in MS, TX and LA at CB next year plus us taking 4 CBs this year.

    DT is probably Will Campbell.

We have heard all along that he was a Michigan lean, but there is some chatter that LSU moved to the top with the camp visit and offer. He has family from the area also.

  • Pretty impressive year for the state of Iowa. What position do you think Lazard projects best at JC?

  • What happen to NNadi in Va. Also surprised to see Mihota ahead of Nnadi and Walker in Va. I know he is good player and commited early I but dont remember much on him from camps, VTO etc. Good to see Va represented so well though. Thanks for your hard work.

LSU will probably be the number 2 school throughout his recruitment.

Campbell's the guy. Couldn't place the name. How's he doing btwl

We heard some good vibes about Webb but also realize the long process and Michigan being home and actually looking like a program that's on the way back. Talented kid so we have to throw the offer out but it's an uphill climb on many levels.

    Thanks for the info.

Underperformed for a 5*, up to this point. Last chance as it is his senior year. Reserved high hopes for him this year. Richrod burned his RS to have him block on FG's. smh

That is how I see the recruitment. LSU has to be a draw to any high scholl CB with their recent history of sending kids to the NFL.

Both. A 6-4 receiver with his speed and athleticism is extremely rare. I guess him not being 100% dedicated to football factors in, but he is a can't miss WR prospect IMO

  • Surpised to see RB Jones that high after running a high 4.7 after are recent camp and this is a kid that we are in great shape with. Also think WR Quinn should be higher. If I'm not mistaken he had very little problems beating 5* Brown at LSU camp they both attended. Anyone know how many WR's LSU wants to take in 2014? LA is absolutely loaded with 4 WR's in the top 102. I think Peppers is right where he belongs.

    JC, 2 questions

Do you know who would be the 247th guy now that one of the Cameron Robinson listings is out?

Is this class really gonna have 2 FBs in the top 247? I know about Gresham and his possibilities of playing some RB but mostly FB. What about the NJ kid, ranked 41 I believe? Does he project to LB/DE or is he a true FB ranked 41st? Likely just a sign it's very, very early in the rankings process but a guy ranked 41 this early still has a ways to fall to fall completely out. Not a criticism, just curious about the thought process. Thanks

I will have to look on the back end. Should be fixed tomorrow but will post as soon as I get home.

We don't project Owens as a FB. We think DE/DT.

We saw Nnadi in person and he's shorter than advertised. He's still a four, though. Film is a huge chunk of our ratings, much more important than camps. Mihota is excellent on film and his size checks out.

We love Walker as a max effort DT.

Such a common misconception that we just rank in order whoever does the best at camps.

Certainly all of this can change as we are two years plus away from finalizing these. Jones' athleticism is obvious on film and in person. The 40 time is probably what keeps him from being a tad higher, but honestly one 40 time and god knows what the conditions were should never be that significant.

Back to my point, though, basing everything off camps and the "in person" shorts/t-shirt/eyeball eval has led to some horrendous rankings decisions over the years. We prefer a more football/projection based approach taking lots of things into account rather than ranking/projecting based on camps.

One thing I discourage our guys from doing too is using BS like "kid didn't show up to X camp, so he doesn't like to compete" - who are we to question that based on camps???

Anyway, sorry to get off track but you brought up some excellent topics.

Everyone hating on Peppers, just don't get it.

If you are ranking just corners, I could see a scenario where Humphrey ends up projecting higher. Peppers could be a safety or running back just as easily.

That is the thing about rankings this early- the entire story hasn't been written on these guys yet.
