Coaches who won an NC within their first 5 years as a HC?

schnellenberger did it in his 5th year as a college coach 6th as a HC if you count the year with the colts

Yeh you are right, you can win the Super Bowl. Coaching in the NFL gives coaches an advantage over those who don't, the preparation involved improves those guys a lot.
The point isn't about being able to win natty's early in school tenure, it's doing so early in their HC career.

Right and being a coordinator doesn't do the same? I don't know if you Canadians know this but winning a super bowl isn't the same as winning a NC. Maybe it's a bacon situation and in that case, I apologize.

I've never seen someone outside of Oregon brag about an appearance.
As far as prep yes they are. Much more similar than being a HC in college and the NFL.

NFL head coaches play an extensive role in the management of multi-million dollar industries.
High School head coaches teach third period algebra.
Not the same.

Where exactly was I bragging? I just said Lloyd Carr was a great Coach and listed his accomplishments. Do you care to refute the fact he is a great Coach? He is in the HOF.

the criteria is first 5 years as a HC period. I dont know why there has to be this huge debate..If the guy was a HC at the NFL or college level for 5 years before he came to whatever school he won the NC for he's out..

Exactly, I don't understand why Alonzo is getting all upset about this. It's just answering a question posed in this thread.
No one said Carroll wasn't a good Coach, no one said Lloyd Carr was better than Carroll. One matches the premise set out by the OP, one doesn't. Nothing more nothing less. SC fans (Alonzo, usctrojans1) always so quick to feel slighted when nothing negative was said.
