Code push last night - now noting what we are working on

  • Tonight at 12pm CT we will take the site down to begin releasing a major part of our code rewrite that involves all of our user based information. This push will impact the entire site, so things we did not even try to change, will change because user information touches 100% of the site.

    We hope to to have the site back up around 3am. Those of you who have been through this before know that the site will be pretty sketchy from 3am to about 9am as we work though and fix the issues that only happen when 1000's of users are doing things at the same time. We will stay on it until things are stable. If you find anything after the push, feel free to reply in this message, or PM me.

    One note: We are removing special characters as a choice for screen names. Users that have special characters in their names ({[$%>, etc) will see their names changed and updated. If you are one of these users and want to change your name after the push, PM me your top three name choices and I'll change it to the first available.

    Not really. It's a rewrite of how we handle several things on the site. It's not an addition of features, though there are about 70 bug fixes in this too.

    Yep, that's a new feature. If you have favorite boards, it makes it easier to navigate back and forth on mobile.

    Yes, instead of going to a new page and having to load it, we're trying the dropdown that includes the boards for the site and a tab for the boards you follow.

    We're still not "fully" back up yet, so it could be really slow.

  • Please tell me the a$$load of ads on the individual's board post page is part of the update and will go away...

    If not I think you could squeeze a few more ads on there. The entire page isn't fully covered yet.
