Colorado to legalize The Marijuana

  • I think the city of New Orleans would do the same. it would be great for the local economy. it would also keep dumb white kids from getting robbed in the hood trying to buy a dime bag.

You're a smart guy, I know that from talking about other topics with you, but don't fall into that trap. It's illogical and unnecessary.

I just don't last like it. The point im trying to make is where does legalization of substances stop?

With rationality and logic, that's where.

  • Gotta love Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper:

". . .federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don't break out the Cheetos or Gold Fish too quickly."

I imagine we will hear from the NCAA soon. Some Legal substances for the public are still illegal substances for athletes though.

Rationality, and to an extent logic are both very susceptible to be tailored to to each individual.

His point is that marijuana has a lot in common with two substances we already deem legal, tobacco and alcohol. The comparison to things like cocaine, meth, etc., while I understand the intent, isn't really sound because they are so very different. Other than being illegal, they have very little in common.

What I'm interested in seeing is how the federal government will handle this. Technically the usage of marijuana is against federal law, which trumps state law, but they've simply chosen to overlook the medicinal usage of it. Now that it's "legal" recreationally... interesting indeed.

Hopefully they start enforcing it like a mother.

excessive caffeine is illegal by the NCAA so i highly doubt there will be any change for marijuana now

  • You people do realize that Marijuana is still going to be illegal in Colorado right?

  • Did I just hear them say legalizing Marijuana for recreational use will generate billions of dollars in revenue?

WHY THE HELL IS SOMETHING LESS DANGEROUS THAN ALCOHOL AND NON-ADDICTIVE ILLEGAL?????????

But again, why? I understand it's illegal, and on that front I totally see them coming down on it, but from some morality standpoint, again, it has WAY more in common with tobacco and alcohol, which are already legal, than things like cocaine. I really don't understand why people make that connection. I'm all for hearing the gateway drug argument if people can provide me a study where people buying marijuana from a dealer that sells nothing but marijuana (and not some guy who also pushes harder drugs) are more susceptible to things like cocaine.

Because people still think the slippery slope argument is logical.

because the DEA has a lot of federal jobs tied to the explicit illegality of marijuana. if it were to become legal, a lot of people would lose their job or maybe be re positioned to stop real drugs like coke, meth, heroin. the fact that marijuana is illegal is one of the stupidest things the citizens have let the gov. convince them of. for the record, i don't even smoke pot but it is absolutely retarded to say it is dangerous or should be illegal. Hell, we have a nation of FATASSES that eat themselves to death and that is perfectly acceptable behavior.

well said. I do like to smoke. But a vast majority of people I know and hang out with don't. it's just not a big deal. I don't worry about them taking shots of whiskey, and they don't worry about me smoking a bowl. it's just our preferred method of relaxing after work. just honest, hard working people trying to relax.

I've already mentioned that. Even though medical marijuana usage is going on, it's technically against federal law. But the federal government ignores it. That's why it's interesting.
