I am in favor of states rights, including on this issue, but not this way. States shouldn't just do what they want and dare the Feds to stop them. There is a proper way of doing things. If states want states rights should should quit conceding them to Washington an get them back. But not violate the law.

This is so stupid. I would rather have a buddy drive me around after smoking an ounce of weed than if he had just taken 5 shots of vodka. If there is so much money to be made off of a "drug" that isn't as dangerous as alcohol, and I may even go as far to say Cigarettes, just MAKE IT LEGAL. The DEA will still have jobs to do. You know... Trying to cut down on the real drugs that are actually dangerous and harmful.

No I can't provide a study and that's one reason I said I'm not sure how I feel about this. I have seen it first hand with some people I know and have watched quite a few drug documentaries where users talked about getting started on pot then the other hardcore stuff. Whether it was due to pot addiction or the pot dealer really doesn't matter IMO

You ever thought that maybe it's the personality/beliefs of the people that start smoking weed are also the type of people to experiment with other drugs? Could have a lot to do with extraneous variables and not marijuana making them move on to other drugs.

People abuse marijuana and drugs, we know that. But there are people that abuse all sorts of things. Alcohol, cigarettes, prescription drugs, food... hell, there are even people that abuse things that are supposed to be good; exercise, water... anything and everything can be overdone and I guarantee you has been and will continue to be abused. But just because one man turns into an alcoholic (and that's a terrible thing, I'm not downplaying that), do we need to make booze illegal for the thousands of people who partake and are not alcoholics?
The big question you have to ask yourself is: Is marijuana more likely to create (more) abusers than any other substance (good or bad)?
