49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith.
No way it could have been for the number 1 over all pick. Im going 2 and a 4
Second rounder at least. That's bold, and in a bad way.
The first pick in the 2nd round for Alex Smith? Yikes. Plus extra?
He's not a franchise QB.
I'd be surprised if it is a 2nd too, although people give away 2 first rounders for Carson Palmer these days so f*ck me...
I really hope we didn't give up our second for him.
Smith isn't bad.. Now KC can draft a LT and start to build.
They have pieces.. Jamal Charles, Dwayne Bowe.. And talent on defense
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Isn't Bowe unrestricted?
Guessing the Chiefs gave up their 3rd which is really like the last pick in the 2nd.
And the rich get richer. Whatever they traded him for is a bonus.
F it looks like it is the 2nd with a conditional mid round in 2014

I dont think its that bad. At least Smith is somewhat proven. You dont have to go maybe reach for a guy like Geno, Barkley, Manuel for him to do what Smith did at the beggining of his career. The Chiefs had plenty of pieces last year with all the pro bowlers they had. Now they can go get a LT to protect Smith. I see where you are coming from Kite. This move may not be super sexy, but I think it might not be bad. I dont think he will pull a Cassell.
Hopefully they plan on drafting EJ if he's still available. This is what I hoped wouldn't happen..
Without self-knowledge there is no individuality
gotta be a Niner fan
Goodness.. SF now has picks 31, 34, 61, 74, 93 and a few more
They have a pro bowler @ LT, in Albert. He cleared up the back problem rumors. Then you got Bushrod and Long hitting the market too.
Andy Reid has options. Trade down imo.
They pretty much got a 1st round pick for Smith.
Its ok Cardinals are going to draft T.Mathieu
Albert a free agent
Easy to say, find me one team who is looking to trade up.
There are no players that are going to make it worth giving up a lot of picks for #1.

I feel u. I was just making the point that Reid is sitting in a good spot.
Its definitely better than reaching on one of the lackluster QB's available in this draft.
But I still would not have given up the 34th pick, and I especially would not have given up more than that.
Reid is the perfect fit for Smith, especially after his last season and 1/2 coming from Harb.
It was way too expensive though, I agree.
I think he leaves
Love it. Now they need to shop some picks around and get Revis.
I'm sad to see Smjth go. Was extremely pissed he got benched. We'll never know if he could have led us to a Super Bowl.
