i'm poor so can't afford sirius
3 time POTW, member since 2006, MLWTI: 4-3
Bill King - Not as good as he was before 247 (I can't explain it, but he lost an edge).
Jack Arute - Turrible.
Paul FInebaum - The Pied Piper for trailer trash.
Bill King is better during the season than off season talk IMO
Jack Arute does say some very uninformed things but he is sitll better then Packer and Hawkins
Overall it is still the best option for college sports talk at the office all day
I can't listen to Finebaum's callers though. I like listening when he has guests like Bruce Feldman.
Wish he would take his show a different direction. When he has a guest on or has informed callers he's one of the best in the business. Unfortunately, he mainly has crap callers that whine about Auburn or Alabama all day.
i know Bill King is trying to make money but i cant handle him doing a plug every 5 seconds. I already pay for a subscription i should not have to listen to 600 plugs during his show. I understand he needs to take breaks but dont force commercials down my throat. I have to turn out because of this. I absolutely loved his show.
I think it would be the best if they took his time slot away and gave it to a big conference homer one day a week. 5 Days in a week 5 big conferences.
SEC(finebaum could do that one), big12, Big10, ACC, Pac12
that way we get a perspective of all the conferences and fan locals instead of just SEC
Yeah, I have trouble understanding why we have to listen to so many plugs while listening to Bill King. He can't go thirty seconds without plugging something.
totally agree.. Really can't stand when they put the commercial right in the middle of the talk. Give me a commercial break, don't work a commercial into my college football talk. Other than that, absolutely love Sirius 91. They carry games too if you can't be near a tv.
I haven't noticed guys, but maybe its cuz its been soo hot you all are a little testy. You should try the Geniuspure Energy drink . Pick ya right up and get ur day going. Anywho, have a great 4th of July. I'll be BBQing and my cooler from CoolWorks.com with my Michigan Insignia has me the hit at our Backyard BBQ
Packer has been claiming all morning that cold weather has no effect on games. He laughs in the face of every caller that presents a point agaisnt his then says a statement that makes no sense. Typical
I have enjoyed the conversation through the summer with all of the changes going on in college football. I have to agree Finebaum's audience is the poster child for what the rest of the nation thinks about SEC fans. I enjoy Jack Arutes show the most.
Packer is ok.
I really like Braedon Gall from Athlon when he's on. By far the best, imo.
Bill King's show has become the Home Shopping Network on the radio.
It doesnt bother me but I see what everyone is saying. You gotta remember he has been doing this all college show for a long time and he had to find ways to make money before Xm91 and he is not going to sell out his sponsors now that he is making money. Think of Lighing McQueen in the Cars movie sticking with the rust sponsor for a analogy- [yea i went there]
The others were pulled from local shows in Alabama, North East, Charlotte etc that were a little more broad based. Bill King is the father of college only radio nationally
I am one of Bill's first listeners on Sirius. But Sirius should be content driven and not ad driven. The ad revenue should only supplemental and be very minimal. IT IS A SUBSCRIPTION RADIO. Bill's show has become so ad driven it drives me nuts. I understand Bill wants to make some extra money but come on at least spread it out. Howard Stern has spots and you barely notice them. I turned off ESPN radio for the exact same reason. 5 min of content and 30 minutes of commercials.
I am not saying he should not have ads i understand he needs to rest his voice and pee breaks. But the spot ad have to go they are awful. He needs to go back to the old model of when it was Rivals radio.
I can handle all of them but Jack Arute who's an uninformed jackass. What bugs me is his bosses must think he's a big enough name in college football that he deserves his own show.
And yeah, Finebaum would be better if he cut the caller portion down to maybe a half hour.
Agreed, wish he would have more guests and not have just hours of mindless dribble of callers calling in. When a breaking story comes out callers at time can bring up good points. But most of them say, "I just heard the Auburn caller that just called in and he's an idiot that doesn't know nothing." Next caller, "Pau, just heard the damn bammer calller can in calling me an idiot and he used a double minus negative, he's the idiot." Pretty much the entire show and Finebaum loves to crap on Richt whenever he can the the chance.
That's basically every show in a nutshell. He stepped it up a notch yesterday or the day before when he let Legend and some other caller just go at it on the air. They were literally yelling at each other at the same time, and you couldn't understand either one of them. I had to change it to espn.
Living in the North I find the southern callers entertaining - I was traveling today and was listening to this redneck babble on about dogs and tails, skeeters, "d'em folk" and I was thinking this guy must be the town drunk - then come to find out it was Steve Spurrier talking about how he does not like the new playoff because "it only serves the purpose to allow other teams to compete with the SEC for the national title...." Could not believe this was a head coach talking.
If spurrier and Mike Leach got a radio show I don't know how anyone one else could compete.
