Legalize weed. Tax it. All money goes to schools and protecting kids.
You asked. There's one solution.
YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
I said I agree with you to a point. I said that it wouldn't stop it, but it would make them harder to get. I have a lot of weapons but don't go into schools killing innocent people. It's still a discussion that is worth having and I'm willing to listen to both sides personally.
The definition of an 'assault weapon' is not and has never been 'a fully automatic rifle.'
There's a huge difference between many semi-automatic hunting rifles and AR-15s. The idea that we have to ban, say, a 20-gauge semi-automatic shotgun that holds three shells like the one I own if we want to ban the Bushmaster .223 and its 30-round magazine is a willfully blind false dichotomy. It's not all or nothing.
While i have nothing against this idea, i have a hard time believing it would generate anywhere near enough money. Or maybe im just out of touch with how much pot is smoked. You are probably looking at at least 500k a year for my city of about 60k. Thats alot of pot.
I have friends that smoke a ton of weed. I'm guessing it would generate a ton of money but I don't know how much.
I actually think it would generate more than enough money, but only because $6-7 billion (a reasonable estimate) isn't very much money in terms of the federal budget.
The measure of marijuana as a cash crop from 2003-2005 was estimated at $35.8 billion/yr, untaxed.
If pot was legalized.. You would be stupid to not try to grow your own.
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Why wipe it out? That would make it legal to drink and drive. That would be stupid. It's illegal to shoot someone for no reason. They got rid of Alchohol. It was called prohibition. Governement made Alchohol illegal. It's what ushered in what we know as "the mob". That worked out well. You can't just banish shit an expect it to get better. People will find ways around everything
You can't make an assault rifle in a still in your backyard.
No bit I can go to any hood in Atlanta and buy a fully automatic one. It's not hard.
Only bad thing is that some communities do not have enough officers to work the schools and then patrol the streets. My solution:
1. All exterior doors must be locked.
2. Must be buzzed in and screened again by office staff. In one door, out one door.
3. All interior classroom doors must be locked while children are inside and that can only be opened from the inside.
4. A minimum of 1 police officer or 2 Military personnel will be stationed in every school in america. Active duty or reserves. Instead of drill, you go to a school. Wear a dress uniform with a sidearm.
We can spend 3 trillion in Iraq/Afghanistan, but we don't spend money to protect our children. It is about money.......F everyone else and lets protect US.
It's against fire code to lock school doors. At least it is where I live but I Agree. Key codes for parents, doors that automatically unlock if the fire alarm is tripped....I can still sport shoot AR-15's and kids don't have to get killed. The government can cut costs somewhere to fund safety measures. There's not much more that's more important.
I think that we are going back and forth with remedies for a situation that you just can't remedy. You can make it harder for things like this to happen, but that makes our lives seem like we are living in a prison based on fear. Fact of the matter is, if some nutjob decides that he is going to go batshit crazy and walk in a room and find a way to do unspeakable things like this, there is nothing that is going to stop it. Preparing the rest of the country for things like this is going to turn this country into East Germany back in the day.
So because of that we should just not waste our time trying to prevent it? I don't understand that thought process.
I 100% agree with what you just said. I'd rather be dead than live 1 second in fear or captivity of over regulation.
I'm saying that you can't prevent it. You are going to wind up making it worse for everyone in everyday life and it won't stop a thing.
That easy enough for you?
So we should try...........
It's called balance. There's a fine line between freedom and enslavement. I'm sorry if it offends but I'm not willing to give up freedoms that I don't abuse for any reason.
So let's just say some prayers for those kids, hope it never happens again and move on.
Does that about sum it up? I got it. Thanks.
Give me something that will fix it? All I'm hearing is sticking police in kindergartens, metal detectors in all schools, banning automatic weapons (which is a joke because they are still going to be easy to get, especially from a man hellbent on making the news and killing himself at the end of it), and what else?
Your putting solutions out there that do nothing but make our lives more government controlled and don't stop a fvcking thing.
Neither am I but if we can't reasonably try to at least ban assault weapons, we're really screwed as a country. I'll sti have my guns. So will my wife and daughters. If you need an assault weapon, I don't know what to say.
I believe it is everywhere, but I think we should change it.
If the first responders want/need in, they will get in!!!
I agree......nothing more important than our kids!
Ok you've mentioned all of mine, and then say nope to all of them. I'll wait for yours or should we just move on?
And you would have stopped that from happening how? You post on this site like your shit doesn't stink but nothing that you have posted makes any sense on stopping what happened. I don't mind making it harder to get guns but they are still easy to get even if illegal.
Don't get twisted and start acting like I don't feel for those kids. I'm the one of the one's that have started getting the board trying to organize money for charities in this whole ordeal. I haven't seen your uppity ass in that thread. Quit being a blowhard and actually say something that makes sense or STFU.
I don't have a solution because I don't think that there is a solution for some nutjob getting his hand on a weapon and going crazy.
Say that guns weren't even in existence. Do you not think he couldn't have walked in that room with a couple of machetes. There is no cure for crazy.
