About to go buy a 42" LG 1080p LED but it's only 60hz - is that garbage or is 60hz okay??
I think 60 is the lowest. 240 is the highest and 120 in the middle. I think.
You want to go 120hz.
120 hz for sports
60 hz for everything else....watching movies at 120 hz makes the movie look worse imo

Stay away from the 60hz

I think the hz is a little overrated imo. If you can save some money just go with the 60hz, tell your friends its 240 and use the money saved on beer and hookers. Problem solved. Your welcome.
Even with 120 I get shadows trailing a flying ball during games. However, I have LCD.
My father-in-law has a 55" LED Samsung 120 and I have a 55" LED Samsung 240 and we both agree you can tell a big difference when watching sports. With that said, DO NOT GET THE 60
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
I bought a 240Hz LED Samsung in February, perfect for sports. My only complaint is that the picture is almost too good so it can ruin movies with lots of CGI and special effects.
Get a plasma. Won't have the "ghosting" of a 120 or 240 and won't look cgi, as the poster above said. That and better color range and actual blacks.
Plasma looks like ass in a bright room.
Agree, I wouldn't buy one over my 240 LED.
lol at the poors ITT
I have a 60" LED that is 120hz. Its great for sports, movies, shows, porn, whatever you want.
Plasma is 600hz. But for all other TV types, you're spot on.
Frankly, and I have no idea what your budget or time frame is, but it's worth checking out the new 4K UHD TVs coming out. They blow any other TV completely out of the water. Will be as big of a game changer as HD over analog.
Is 240 just the cream of the crop for sports?
Da mafuggin 1%ers
Not for a long time, and its way overpriced at the moment with minimal support.
120hz LED is the best bang for the buck.
As far as LED's go yes. Honestly i'd at least get the 120
It's expensive, but no outrageous. Sony, Sharp, and Samsung have TVs out right now in the 55-65 inch range for about 5 grand. Obviously, 5 grand is an expensive TV but you can still spend close to that on regular 1080p LED TVs.
Plus, a lot of those new 4K UHD TVs do "true up-converting" and process the image from 1080p to the 4K resolution. It makes 1080p look much better.
They are decent buys, despite being so early on.
Obviously the price will drop within the next year.
240hz Samsung 55 inch LED for me too. Won't buy another til I can afford a nice OLED that's the same size.
