And A-rod is hurt. He's making more than the entire Astros team this season.
Look at Johan Santana of the Mets, he gets about 25mm this year and will not play and got the same in 2011 and did not play. Basically got a 4 year 137mm contract.
Good question. They are going to be awful.
Wow... really only 25 million? How the hell can you even field a team???
Kind of funny though... Ed Wade seemed to still be on the Phillies payroll while in Houston. He traded us Brad Lidge, Roy Oswalt and Hunter Pence for a bunch of trash. Unfortunately, the joke's on us... he's back with the Phillies as a consultant.
They are building their team from the bottom up. They are letting all their young guys that are making the minimum play and learn instead of bringing in older 1 year players
That's because Ed Wade ruined the team.. they have no choice but to let the young guys play.
Yeah....you keep thinking that. So you guys are pulling a Marlins five years ago?
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
It's the Miami method, duplicated.
This is why the revenue sharing is a joke. It basically subsidizes the owners regardless of if they pocket the money or use it on the team.
Are you telling me my Royals won't be dead last this year?
After the previous fire sale by the Marlins MLB made them show that they were putting it all back into the team. Not so coincidentally that measure expired in 2012, so the Marlins went and did the exact same thing last summer
They're one of the worst run organizations in baseball, and their owner looks to profit off of the profit-sharing that takes place in the MLB. Similar to what the Pirates did for so many years.
The guys makes a killing. He doesn't even have to sell tickets.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
They were one of the worst run organizations in baseball, but the new GM and ownership (which inherited the team in 2012) is doing the right thing.
There's no reason for the Astros to spend money in Free Agency right now. They win 60 games as is, if they go all out in FA they win 70. Who cares? A 70 win team is still not very good, so they are investing in draft picks and premium prospects so that when they have enough internal talent to win 80 games, they can spend more on FA to get to that 90-95 plateau.
The Cubs are doing the same thing with Theo Epstein, but no one is complaining because all their bad contracts haven't expired yet.
Looking forward to an opening day victory.
Their 3 infielders on the DL make more than the rays. And the rays will push for the division as well
Awfully run organization
$50 bet with Rebels10 - Best of 3 Egg Bowls
**the $50 goes to others schools athletics dept**
What the rays payout this year? Can't be more than 25 mill right?
Rays farm system is probably the best in baseball
I didn't know there were any other Rangers fans on the board here.
Can't wait to tear them a new one on national television to start the season.
Baseball salaries are fuggin stupid I'm sorry. Highest should be maybe 10 mil for a player
Sports in general. ..wtf hasn't there been a PLAYER cap for contracts?
Because the Yankees wouldn't be able to buy rings anymore.

I'm everything major league sporting in Dallas except basketball. Don't mind the Mavs but love the Magic. They suck though.
Nah. Cardinals and Mariners at the top.
It hasn't worked out well for them lately. They are paying 29 mill for a washed up steroid junky 3rd baseman who isn't even healthy enough to play.
I have to believe the Sugarland Skeeters may have just as many or more fans show up for their games this season. The Houston Astros are a dead franchise.
The only way Ill watch the Astros this season is with the free tickets my company shells out that clients dont use.
