I get what you were saying. Saban would pull kids from anywhere, at this point, no matter where he was. He's a great coach.
But, when a coach can hand pick the talent, that perfectly fits their specific system (and that talent is top shelf and local) it makes the job almost too easy, imo.
Trust me, I hear what you're saying loud and clear, but for SC fans to think that they're gonna have their pick of the litter so to speak in so cal now with the year Mora had in year one is not a wise assessment. He can coach, he will win and that brings in recruits.
9-5 is not a good year
With what he took over??? Yes it is. Mora can coach and you're foolish if you think he can't.
What he took over lol just a team full with 4 stars, couple 5 stars and plenty of NFL talent.
I don't know if he can Coach. History shows he's been fired from his last two jobs.
What good team did UCLA beat?

You're straying. I'm not here to defend UCLA, I'm here to say that USC can't get every kid they want in relation to an argument based on best job.
Best job or best team? Big difference. Best job is Notre Dame and if people argue otherwise, than I'm just gonna say Hawaii is the best job and try to argue against that...
With all due respect, Coach..but I think you know little about west coast culture, football tradition and what these kids are looking at as far as college choices to play their football.
If there is any program we compete with for California elite players, it's Notre Dame.

"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
It is very difficult to win at UGA the way they are with their checkbook FWIW. Not saying anything about his coaching but he is in a excellent situation at Bama for sure.

I just don't see how you still think it's ND.... So much evidence has been presented in this thread for 3 or 4 other schools that trumps anything you've said about ND.
TV) all the big boys have it now
National alumni base) irrelevant to CFB recruiting. Much more relevant for other sports
History and tradition) all the other big boys have it - along with much more recent success aka in the recruits lifetimes
Y'all have a Trojan Club on Antarctica? That's amazing.
On everyone's list:
Schools fighting for last three spots
247's base is heavily slanted towards the Southern states so the opinions on this board may differ. LSU squeaks in my list if only because Miles has shown that even an idiot can win there.
Oy vey...correction, 7 continents, USC alumni presence in 6.
Not just a club
Værvarsel for 8,7 millioner steder i verden!
Everyone's list for what? Top 10? Top 5? Because I and several others would not have Oklahoma, Michigan, or ND too close to the others in your top group. There's a decent sized gap. Florida is a better job than all 3 of those.
As of 2013, I'd say Bama, OSU, LSU, Texas and one other (Georgia or Florida) are the most attractive jobs. Meaning attractive to a coach. Michigan, Oklahoma, ND as well as a few others have all been humbled recently. Texas has too, but a decent coach can win big there quick.

If a game is on ABC, you get regional coverage so no, not everybody is on tv nationally. Same with other stations, but NBC for Notre Dame televises from the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream Waters...and this football land was made for you and me!
I also think Penn State is in this discussion....
And they still don't get the same ratings.
Ok, now we know your perspective is skewed....
Nothing to do with ratings, it's the fact they have their own network. Ratings don't mean a thing when you have your own network. They OWN the airwaves.
Everyone's list for 10 ten jobs. We know your perspective, and it is a bit skewed.
Why would it not be a top ten job? That incident will be forgotten quicker than you think.
Look, I live in Jersey City and was in NYC when 9/11 happened. People were nice for 2 weeks. Then it went back to, "get the f outta my way, u bleep, ba bleep bleep bleeeeeeeeeeeeppppp!!!!!!"
I agree with your list 100%.
Because there isn't enough talent within 500 miles of them to win big, and they'll never pull enough kids from the south, Texas, or California to make up for it.
