Good Kid Maad City for me...
Haven't heard an album that goes cover to cover like that in ages.
PIcked it up on vinyl
Love babel and Frank's.
Maybe it's the LA thang, but gkmc just does it for me.
I came in to mention four albums and they've all already been mentioned. Well done tBB. My choices were:
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid mAAd city
Jack White - Blunderbuss
Mumford & Sons - Babel
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
Huddles are for rookies.
It's not just an LA thing. I haven't spoken to one person that likes rap and doesn't like gkmc.
If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting
If u wanna hear some new originality with some balls to it check out Clockwork Angels - Rush.
Probably The Black Keys - El Camino.
All That Remains - A War You Cannot Win is a really good album as well.
Love Kendrick but couldn't get into all the tracks on that album.
My top 3 would be
Macklemore - The Heist
J Cole - Cole World
Drake - Take Care
The Road- Aaron Lewis(Has more talent in his pinky toe than anyone in the music industry has in their entire body)
University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
I'm not that familiar with Lewis, but to make that claim with Rush still putting out music is cray cray. MOST of the industry, probably.
GKMC and Life is good
Without self-knowledge there is no individuality
Frank Ocean or Kendrick Lamar for me
Though it's not my type of music, I give great music it's due, Frank Ocean's album was fantastic.
Best rap album I heard this year was easily El-P's Cancer for Cure. Great in every way. Not everyone's cup of tea because he's a little abstract but it was great
Most on here probably won't agree, but for me it's wiz khalifa O.N.I.F.C
Why So Serious?
Cole World was released in 2011. Good album though.
1) Kendrick Lamar -GKMC
2) Killer Mike - Rap Music
3) El-P - Cure For Cancer
4) Nas- Life is good
Frank Ocean, Dave Matthews (loved this album)
If y'all like Channel Ocean so much, you definitely need to listen to The Weeknd's Trilogy
Totally agree with you two. An amazing album, and even more impressive considering its a debut.
Yep. The Weeknd > Frank Ocean
As I Lay Dying - Awakened
State Radio - Rabbit in Rebellion
Of Mice and Men - The Flood
I like them both but ya agreed.
^This in addition to...
Boys & Girls - Alabama Shakes
Lonesome Dreams - Lord Huron
Gossamer - Passion Pit
Alabama Shakes had the best album IMHO. They've gained widespread popularity very quickly and are on the verge of blowing up. I've seen them twice already (once at the Hangout & then opening for Neil Young) and they are fantastic live. The lead singer's voice transcends masculinity/femininity. She is a special, special talent and I already can't wait for their second album.
