This is the end of the road between Lame & the California High School Association
From the blog Dr. Saturday: Redlands (Calif.) East Valley High School and USC coach Lane Kiffin are at odds thanks to a deferred scholarship. Defensive end Kylie Fitts, a four-star recruit Rivals ranked seventh nationally at his position, was committed to USC and took extra … Continue reading →
Coaches do this all the time, they got a 5 star at the last minute who wanted to enroll early and they still have his scholly for the fall..please tell me you would reject a five star and we can start discussing
We know it Breh - the problem is...Duh, it's Lamey again. He can't help it. Their is a negative cloud that follows him around like "Pigpen" in Charlie Brown. There is no way this guy CAN get a positive review in ANYTHING. No offense but do ya get it? Hayden needs to cut his losses & (if he hasn't already) & prepare for another HC's position

Thank you for being the voice of reason. Even as a Trojan, I'm not the biggest fan of Kiffin and have never really defended him when scrutinized by the public. However, you can't blame Kiffin for this latest incident. A senior football player at USC didn't have enough credits/units to graduate, resulting in one less EE spot. Unfortunately, Fitts was the odd man out.
By the way, Fitts suffered two wrists injuries, neither of which was reported to the USC coaching staff. Basically, he didn't display integrity and honesty, yet he has the audacity to insinuate that the USC coaches are shady.
People are just looking for any reason to hate Kiffin.

Can't be true, only the SEC does this type of stuff.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
They should be truthful then and explain to them that they want them on campus and a scholarship is available unless one of the higher ranked prospects they are recruiting commits and then you are SOL.
Fitts still has an offer to enroll in June. People are acting as if his scholarship was pulled.
Thanks for the down-vote,
You call BS on what? He still has an offer. Hence, he had a meeting with Coach Orgeron yesterday and Kylie, himself, had said that he's still considering USC.

You're wasting your time with these tiny brains...Lane has seriously underperformed last season, but do you wonder why they care, or keep bringing up all his failings?
Basically, Lane had zero respect for the SEC, it's coaches, fans and tradition...and he showed it every way he could. Not a nice thing to do, but they're not arrogant or confident enough to just move on. Paper tigers.
Just take the laughs posted on this board and fry a few brain cells for base entertainment value.
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
says the fan of the only team in the history of the world to be ranked pre-season #1 and lose 5+ games.
The overall prestige, ranking, wealth and networking of the University of Southern California has zero to do with what happens on a football field.
When we fail, we do so in epic proportions - better than anyone else! You just have to laugh, and move on.

He's a lame Duck Coach as far as the universe sees it. If it looks like a Lame Duck; if it sounds like a Lame Duck; & acts like a Lame Duck: than its Lame Kiffin. Arn't y'all sick & tired of this guy? Well all of us are sick of his existence.
I'm curious as to why you guys -- all of whom hate USC (don't even try to deny it) -- care so much about who our coach is. If you think Lane Kiffin is such a deplorable coach, shouldn't you guys be ecstatic that we're "stuck" with him? It doesn't make sense how you guys want him fired.

Unbelievable to me that their entire fan base thinks they did nothing wrong in this situation. How delusional can you be?
But it was the NCAA's fault for limiting scholarships
Wtf? Read my initial post. I'm not a Kiffin apologist. In fact, I'm not even a Kiffin fan.
All I'm saying is that Kiffin isn't in the wrong in this particular situation.
I didn't defend him when the ball-deflating and the jersey switching fiascos surfaced.
By the way, why's your rep so bad?
Can you explain? How was he wrong in that particular situation?
None of you guys have given me a plausible explanation as to why Kiffin was wrong.

The guy that wrote that article has shit for brains. You would think he would do enough research to get the real reason for the last minute change correct. It was totally out of the coach's hands. Man_A-War....you are showing a distinct lack of an understanding of how these things work. You are like a woman who is shocked by her first yeast infection.

None of this has anything to do with the University of Southern California as a university on the whole. Good gravy. This about your jackass football coach and the program. No need to defend something that no one is attacking; a sure sign of deflection.
For the record, while I'm not entirely fired up about how this went down ... it sucks for the kid ... it's a difficult situation to manage, whether you're dealing with a program that has all it scholarships or is limited like USC. His offer to USC stands. It's whether he can handle coming in the fall or not at all. If his dream is USC, then he waits til the fall. This really isn't as big a deal as it seems.
If he is a "lame duck coach" why would USC have one of the highest ranked recruit classes in the country coming in next year?
The truth is that most of the CFB loves it when USC has a rare bad season and loves to pile on. The bad news for all of you haters,
is that deep down, you know USC will be right back on top of CFB soon, and your program won't. Deal with it....
Here at RB U, all we have to say to that, Justafan26, is ... we're waiting, and we'll leave the lights on for ya.
But, I wouldn't look for things to turn around any time soon under your current HC. Kiffin has value as a recruiter; but I wouldn't let him run a softball league, let alone a program as important as USC's.
By decommitting, the kid clearly feels like he wasn't treated fairly. Maybe he's worried that it might happen again, 3 days before Fall camp.
On signing day in 2010, Texas A&M had 93 committed players that had been offered scholarship. Could you do me a favor and tell me where those 8 extra scholarship players went? You see, what cracks me up about this entire situation is that oversigning is so rampant in college football, and yet when USC asks a player to enroll in June because a senior messed up with his grades, we're the bad guy. Your program does WORSE shit than this and is still an irrelevant little brother school that is desperate to prove that it matters to Texas.

You're on crack, Aggie. Already addressed this. We'll have a week off before and a whole offseason to get ready for Johnny Doucheball. No catching us in an LSU coma again. Take the first quarter out of that game and you got beat back.
Tide by at least 10 in that one, and yes I'll go sig bet or whatever. You're going down, Aggie, with all your 12th man in tow, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it ...
Bottom line: no one can ever have more than 85 scholarship players on campus at any time. I'm sure aTm complied with this.
This whole thing with USC and the kid deferring is a joke. The kid didn't lose his spot or opportunity. All you little bleedin' heart vag's need to toughen up.
