I know its been rumored for years but has anybody else heard anything?
It is all over the interwebz
I keep seeing that...wonder if its any truth to it
I'm seeing references on 247's Maryland site and a couple of Scout boards.
Where else is it? Most of the links are at least a few months old.
https://twitter.com/JerryFisherPSU this is where I saw it...dont know how informed he is though
I could see where that would be mutually beneficial. Maryland needs money and the Big Ten would have a presence in virtually the entire northern fourth of the country, save New England.

It surprised me that Maryland would do this the year after the ACC raised the buyout since they need money
Eh...he's getting his info from Phil Grosz? Not saying it won't happen, but I'd be very skeptical.
Also this doesn't make any sense to me:
"Phil believes the financial struggles of Maryland the main reasons for wanting to join Big Ten including major football revenues."
OK, that's definitely a reason from Maryland's end. But why would the Big Ten want them then, if they're struggling financially?
It's probably just chatter. It's been rumored for years, though.
I won't believe it until the Dude of WV mentions it
Oh if it's coming from Phil, I would not put much stock in it.
If they do leave...what do you think the ACC would do?
The Maryland to Big Ten discussion would be interesting. I don't know that the Big Ten is interested in obtaining specific markets, per se. Nebraska indicates that - the markets that Nebraska brings are minimal, whereas Missouri would have been great. I think the Big Ten wants to increase its brand, which Nebraska does. And they bring in a lot of $$$ too. Markets would certainly play a factor, but I don't see the Big Ten bringing in anyone who doesn't add more to the pot than they're going to take away. JMO.
peace out dog. maryland brings nothing to the ACC anyway. we'll trade them for Penn state. new beginning and a fresh start for PSU
FSU Ambassador to the masses
Maryland brings nothing to the table.
glad that others view them the same as i do
I'd agree, but I was going to go along with JC and give them the benefit of the doubt of bringing a reasonably populated market.
Population doesn't mean anything if there's no fan interest. Maryland has a 54,000 seat stadium and they usually have a reported attendance around 30,000. That's the REPORTED attendance.
Is this really all coming from the Wig?
.1% chance this happens. I hope it doesn't. This conference is already weak.
My initial thought is that he's simply responding to the rumblings and trying to put the "report" out there first. But who knows at this point.
Doesn't make sense to add a basketball school.
That's rude JC. Phil is usually spot on. PSU's team is "the best it has ever looked" every single year preseason. We've won the every MNC since he's started covering PSU football. Dude knows his stuff...
has Chip Brown said anything on it...if he says it it must be true
If this happens I'll be pissed. Maryland freaking sucks.
Does anyone really believe that this guy broke the story??
