Pretty impressive IFYAM especially coming off a 3-8 season... Tre Williams, Derrick Moncrief, and Justin Thorton.
I bet you'll wind up with another top 5 class.
I will take that bet
You don't want Thornton but the other two a darn good.
That would be extremely impressive.
I was actually being sarcastic. It was a reference to Chizik's outstanding recruiting classes.
I see......then carry on good sir
Why don't we want Thornton? Because he is a grade risk? So are a lot of players but at this point we have the flexibility to figure those things out.
Chiz had some great classes but he didn't keep them under control and develop them.
That's exactly what I was referring to. Should be plenty of room for talent to come in after Chiz sabotaged the program.
LSU and Alabama passed on him. Grades are an issue but at 6'5 222 he would be a small JackLB in our system. He is a high ceiling guy however and very raw. Good upside but nothing compared to Lorenzo Carter or other candidates at JackLB. I think he is not even on our radar because of the other prospects we are pursuing at that position. And not to add the 2015 commit and future 5* Brown
Hopefully these new coaches are a bit better at developing them. Tracy Rocker was our only position coach to really improve his players. So far it seems like the discipline thing is getting under control with Gus.
We are running a 4 2 5 we don't need a JackLB.
Yeah I mean no way he gains any weight
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
Looks like it will work for Elijah Daniels. Pretty much everyone said he was a grade risk half way into his senior year. Looks like he will enroll in the summer to Auburn.
holler at me when you get darius paige, marcel darius and alozno lawrence in school?
You both just lost imo
fred rouse still may not edge out alonzo lawrence...please tell me you heard him speak?
Thats my point...He may fit your scheme and that is why he is a take for yall and not us. IDK why LSU passed on him though..
Did i say good upside...yes. But fact remains he is not what we are looking for in in our defense. Not to mention LSU passed on him, and we never recruited him. For 6'5 frame 222 is very small, and yes he should gain weight but our OLBs are huge in comparison -
Courtney Upshaw - 270
Xavier Dickson - 265
Denzel Devall - 250
Adrian Hubbard - 240
We used them all in different sets sure as our rabbit package which included Dickson or Devall and Hubbard at DE. Hubbard was recommended to come back this year to work on his run stopping ability instead of just a pass rusher. Thornton fits the mold as a strict pass rusher, which baffles me why LSU passed on him. They have used speed rushers at DEs for awile now. There has to be a red flag on LSUs side that they passed, or maybe bigger fish at this point.
222 has nothing to do with the kids frame
To say a JR in HS who is at 222 LBS could not easily be at 240 by the time he started his FROSH year in college is beyond stupid. If his frame can take the weight, there is no limit to how big he could get.
You offered him a scholarship....yet you never recruited him. Got it.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Jos mit doesn't have a clue
Its really simple to see what Bama is doing, they are putting all their eggs in one basket in terms of the Jack spot
If they miss on Carter, then they could easily change their stance on Thornton
Its simply a case of targeting who for what reasons, but Thornton is good enough to play anywhere at a elite level
Its grades and grades alone that will keep him from doing so, this is why teams have passed on him up to this point
How long have you followed recruiting and do you know how these recruiting sites obtain info on offers?
