Haven't been to a ton of really nice ones, but I'll rank the major ones..
1. UNC-Chapel Hill
3. Ole Miss
6. Wake Forest
8. NC State
9. Miss State
11. South Carolina
I was being facetious. Chicago is outstanding. But the fact remains very few would choose UC over a Harvard or Stanford MBA - unless it was being paid for or they wanted to stay local. You think the ND network is powerful? Harvard dwarfs it and UC's combined x1000. And it's global.
Princeton is better than both of them. Princeton is well, Princeton. You feel the ivy run through you....
No question about that... and I've eaten in the Harvard Club in NYC and it's ridiculous the conversations you hear in that place. I'm like, "do these people control the world???" LOL...
All nice schools, but Harvard's outreach like you said, is tremendous.
I've been to (in order from worst to best):
NCST: ugly, huge
VCU: spread out in the middle of Richmond, nuff said
Radford: dumpy town, old buildings
ODU: buildings are nice and new, but in the middle of Norfolk, surrounded by ghetto, also there is a lovely view of 7/11 at the quad
ECU: average at best, some surrounding neighborhoods are ghetto
Duke: nice old buildings that look mid-evil
JMU: pretty good, little big though
App State: ok campus, but great great town and area
UVA: nice old look to it
VT: use of "hokie stone" is nice and different, great area, nice buildings
Chapel Hill: old look but very well kept up, nice foliage and trees, quiet town built around the school
"Just gotta keep balling out"
Best overall campus I've seen was UVA. Just a beautiful place -- built and planned by Thomas Jefferson himself.
I think the prettiest single spot on any campus, however, is Alabama's quad. Haven't seen a nicer one anywhere (including many of the Ivies I've visited).
Nicest campus I've ever seen in person is Washington University in St. Louis. I love the style of architecture and the plant life they have there. A close second is Northwestern. I haven't been to games at enough different schools to say which school has the best game day atmosphere.

I loved Austin
If you like UNC, you will like Penn State.
