fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.

I am Catholic and wouldn't ever go to see white smoke. I can understand why people do though
I am not Catholic but screw all of you, seriously. Maybe show respect for those who might happen to be Catholic.
Don't like the Church? Fine. But you don't have to p*** on their parade.
I'll show respect for the church the second the church stops covering up child rape and contributing to the spread of AIDS in africa.
Until then, the whole place can go up in smoke. The world would probably be a better place if it did.
Eh. Knowing the church, they'd devote billions of dollars of resources away from people who desperately need help in order to build a new one.

Also I never asked you to respect the Church just to let those who might be devote Catholics have their day.
And in order to 'let those who might be devote Catholics have their day', I would have to (at least implicitly) respect the church.
No. The hierarchy of the catholic church is a horrible organization that since it's inception has been, and is still, responsible for untold amounts of human suffering. They deserve no respect whatsoever.
You are pathetic. I am done with this conversation.
So has the United States.
Your just posting that drivel so you can appear intelligent and progressive. Cry me a river.
Here's you new pope.
Marginal improvement over the old one. Jesuits in general are more in-tune with reality, but it appears he's still pretty out in left field.
Ah, bitter irony. The guy who doesn't respect countless segments of the population gets his panties in a twist when others won't respect a group he feels is worthy.
Wait, are you saying you respect the United States government?
I so badly wanted to do this:
"Also I never asked you to respect the Church just to let those who might be devote Catholics have their day."
"Also I never asked you to respect Obama just to let those who voted for him have their day."
The US has never claimed to be the height of morality.
No no no, the correct emoticon is this one:
But seriously, of course the United States is responsible for untold amounts of human suffering. That's why people don't respect the U.S. government and many of the politicians that comprise it. There's a reason Congress has a 15 percent approval rating.
I'm Catholic but don't agree with its stances on gay marriage or contraception. I also acknowledge that the sex abuse issues reflect poorly on the church (however, the media has spun that into an "epidemic", which IMO is a gross exaggeration). While throughout its history people have used the church for evil purposes (Crusades, sex scandals, etc), it is also an amazing thing because it was the church started by the disciples of Jesus, and has managed to weather a couple thousand years of change to still mange to be important to billions of people. For every negative example you can give, others can provide countless examples of great things the church has done (such as the work of Mother Teresa). Here in the US, Catholic Charities is an organization that helps the poor that everyone else ignores, regardless of the religious beliefs (or lack thereof) of those in need.
The church is not perfect, and this pope is very conservative (it's hard to expect much else when you almost always have to be conservative to become a cardinal) but the church has done a ton of good for the world and I think that it still warrants respect.

I locked it. I will start banning very soon if people don't start respecting others on this board. If you have a issue with this PM me.
