I love the coach rehab center!
Maybe Barbee could bring in Billy Gillespie to help with the basketball program as well.
The only way I will take Auburn seriously is if they fire jay Jacobs and then hire an AD from the outside.
Then they need to fire every single coach. Porn stash included. Then they need to hire a coach that has no connections to auburn. If that coach wants to hire van gorder back then that's his choice...but make it his choice.
No big time coach is going to come in and not have a choice about who is on his staff, and I wouldn't respect one who agreed to something like that. Give him complete control.
Auburn needs a clean break. If they keep the d coordinator and hire patrino I will laugh...that's not raising the bar at all.
yeah we have the best special teams coach in the nation... why fire him?
Honestly there isn't a viable/realistic option Auburn can hire that worries me. Now, can Auburn get a good coach like a Golden or a Strong? Sure, they're a good program with plenty of money to spend. Still, Saban is undoubtedly the best coach in the game right now, has finally built his program into a well-oiled machine, and he has all the money/resources he could ask for to keep it going as long as he's able.
Auburn doesn't have Bama's resources (tradition/easier to recruit), won't have a coach as good as Saban, and will have to build the program back up from its awful present state.
This is exactly how I felt when Chizik was hired except for two things - I didn't expect Auburn to get a once in a generation player which for one season kept Auburn from losing 5+ games (which they would've w/o Cam), and back in 2009 Saban's program was just getting going...now it's a behemoth. I think Auburn can get a coach who will win a lot of games and compete in the SEC but not with Saban consistently.
Poor lil fella. Your program has become the laughingstock of all of college football, and you keep your gay NWO stuff up. Being ignorant and defiant is why Auburn has become the state of Mississippi's toilet. A guy with the last name of a Batman villain took a huge shit on your program.
NWO. For life. Yeah, go with that.
Well if he is so great then the next hc may hire him back. Or he may hire someone he feels fits his style more. It should be up to the hc.
C'mon 92. This thread was actually going pretty good for a change...
God, give me patience today. If given strength I may beat someone to death.
i agree with that. The AD should hire the new coach and the coach assemble the staff. If Jacobs mandates holdovers then you're already heading down the wrong path.
Actually, it's all just a joke and the idiots like you that think we are serious with it is what makes it funny. Don't be all butthurt because I made a joke about your precious little saban.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
I agree with your premise of firing certain coaches and leaving certain coaches on the staff and I do think you are going to agree with what I have to add.
The President needs to fire Jacobs and Chizik. Don't worry about the current staff and just let whomever is hired deal with that. There may be some guys that he wants to bring for reasons that someone may not see right away and there may be some people that he decides to keep that doesn't make sense either, but it needs to be the new coach's decision and no one else's.
Any HC that comes in is going to know already or see very quickly what the situation is like and they may decide a fresh start is needed. I think BVG is a guy that any new HC would consider, especially since it seems that he hasn't fit in too well with some of the current staff and that he hasn't been around them too much, but there are other DCs out there that can be successful as well.
Two things that I find interesting if Petrino is brought in is that BVG has coached with him before so there is either a good or a bad relationship already there, Personally I don't know what the feelings are like there. Second, does Garrett McGee, the head coach at UAB that was with Petrino a long time, take a step back at leave UAB for the Auburn staff? He has to know now that UAB is a deadend job for coaches that are at the end of their careers only and that he is never going to springboard from that job to a higher level school.
Back on topic!!
We can do this!
I accept your apology.
haha I gotcha...But I agree somewhat with your idea of Gogue firing Jacobs and Chizik...Those two can hole up in a shack in Montana with each other for all I care. I wouldn't mind Pelton and Trooper going with them either. I see all these posters commenting saying they would laugh at Petrino at Auburn, but I highly doubt that's the case. Coaching wise he is the best available and realistic possibility and is Saban-esque in his approach to being a disciplinarian with his players. Yes, I know he comes with much baggage, but honestly, I really don't think he would land himself in the same shit he has in the past.
He has always said Auburn was his dream job and he knows what his affair did to his career. He also knows that if he screws up again, there won't be a highschool program in the world that would pick him up. He knows he has to stay on the straight and narrow.
But anyone denying Bobby Petrino's coaching abilities are kidding themselves. Petrino paired with a good DC would make a lot of people go "Oh shit..."
Will Charles Barkley be OK with you hiring Petrino over Charlie Strong?
Why would anyone care?
Not at Arkansas, but Auburn can pull in a lot more than Arkansas can. I'm not saying you would be expecting to get beat, but Petrino at Auburn would turn some heads. He could do a lot with Auburn's resources and would be nothing for your fanbase to smirk at and shrug off.
I think he's making reference to when Charles Barkley was bitching about Turner Gill not being hired at Auburn when Chiz was....He was right about Chizik being a sorry ass coach, but wrong about Turner Gill being a bad one.
I love Charles, mostly because people get so riled up over every little thing he says which is exactly what he wants, but I really...REALLY hate when the race card gets played.
Auburn likely wont get a coach as good as Saban because there is not an elite coach desperate to leave their current coach like saban was desperate to leave the Dolphins. Dont tell me that desperation didnt factor into Saban's decision because the Dolphins werent going anywhere with him as their coach.
For the most part bammer had a trainwreck of losers for 30 years before saban arrived and now you think you can get any coach you want. I am going to laugh my ass off when he leaves and bammer goes back to the Mike Shula's, Mike DuBose's, Ray Perkins, or Bill Curry's of the world

I know what he was referencing. I just meant that no one takes Charles seriously, especially when it comes to football. His stance on the Turner Gill and Chizik situation was racially motivated and had nothing to do with any real football issues.
We won't get a coach as good as Saban because there isn't one as good as Saban....vertically challenged as the little fella is, he is the best college coach in the game.
Auburn by itself doesn't recruit. Tubbs' last 2 years is an example of that but a motivated staff can clearly get it done. With that said, Petrino isn't known for being a strong recruiter and needs to be for auburn to play at the level that the fans expect. "IF" he was able to assemble a staff that could recruit well, and had a DC who could develop and field a tough defense, then he could be very successful. I have always been under the impression that he emphasized offensive players a lot more in the recruiting process and would have to sacrifice some to the defense to be successful. I'm not sold that he would do that, and if not, I don't see auburn being better than 3rd in the west as long as Bama and LSU stay where they are at.
Correct. And you shouldn't listen to him. Turner Gill wasn't ready for that job. Although he was as qualified as Chizik, I think we can all agree on that.
Charlie Strong is different. What about Brent Pease down at Florida?
Agreed. Same outcome. Gill ran KU into the ground in 2 years and Chizik is doing it now. I really hope our BOT/Boosters do what is good for Auburn and sends Jay Jacobs and Chizik into oblivion.

Now that would make me take notice
His last 2 years had some talent. They finished 16th in 2006 and 11th in 2007 in recruiting so it couldn't have been that bad.
Had players like Ben Tate, Lee Ziemba, Ryan Pugh, Chaz Ramsey, Darvin Adams, and Josh Bynes.
Have to remember, Auburn got to #1 in the country one year under Chizik. They might be #3 in the West on average, but that doesn't mean that they can't be the #1 team from time to time as well.
