How's Spring Camp coming along. I started a thread about it a while ago but can't find it and never got a chance to read it. How's the QB play? OL? Anyone moving positions or anything like that? Thx
That was the best thread this board has seen in weeks
There's been a lot of positives written about the OL and DL, but those same things were written last year. "grade of saw" IMO.
The coaches seem to be straining them pretty hard with the pace of practice, so even if we aren't that good we should be in shape.
I refuse to believe anything positive written about QB play.
Couple position moves mostly on the defensive side..
Dive for the thrill, shoot for the kill.
Has the OL come together as a first team unit yet? Young or Diamond might move inside? Kozen at guard? I need a Spring refresher course badly.
Diamond has moved to Guard. The OL looks like LT-Robinson LG- Diamond C- Dismukes RG-Slade Rt- Miller. Many of us expect Young to take the RT spot when he is completely healthy. He seems to still be nursing a shoulder injury.
Ladarius Owens has moved from DE to LB. a move I'm pretty stoked about.
good stuff, thanks
Justin Garrett moved to the Star
Didn't that Westerman kid sign with AU a couple years back? If so where is he at on the OL rotation?

Anything interesting happening in Tuscaloosa or just business as usual?
How does Henry look?
- Henry has looked HUGE. There is a pic of him standing next to our "big" back Fowler and he looks twice as big. The other guys on the team have said he has killed the offseason program. Now he just needs to work on his feet and pad level. He's at worst 3rd string right now but probably 2nd.
- Cyrus Jones has looked really good at CB. He needs to get the defense down mentally before Saban is going to put him out there, but they said they think he might have the highest ceiling amongst the young guys.
- I'm disappointed in Dee Hart. He was one of my favorite players. His luck sucks as he was poised to get a ton of carries each season the week after his injury, but that's just how it goes. The move makes me think our coaches think the new guys would have passed him. He's a tremendous athlete so if he works hard he can compete. He's real young and could very well start at CB for two years. But if he doesn't, he might transfer out.
- Center Ryan Kelly will be a beast.
- Chris Black has looked so good that our coaches moved our starting slot WR from last year to defense so Black could take his spot. I'm just saying, that's a pretty big ringing endorsement.
- lol at our kickers
We're pretty much loaded at every spot and the coaching staff has no weaknesses.
Dee Hart needs to get in the slot or transfer. Giving Hart the ball downhill is not what bama wants to do. He would kill across the middle or on screens with that run game.
That's the kinda shit that ruins conversation. We all know you're loaded. I think you're weakness will be the OL. At least early on. I said that about your secondary last year though, so who knows. There's talent on the OL, but replacing 4 starters is always a challenge.
Don't clam up now... How's the OL look?
IMO the coaches are still trying to figure out some players talent level. They don't seem to be moving people off the starting line up from last year yet. Looks like either they are trying to fool the media with it a little or just want to evaluate a good bit more before they really move people around. Seems like Brandon King will start at Star as long has someone doesn't completely own it this spring. C. Grant seems like our new OMac. I don't think we will even know who our starting big back is until Fall and I think it will change before the season is over. QB who the heck knows. What we are pretty confident about is that they will be in shape at least. They won't be tired in the end of the game. May get pushed around and beat but won't be out of shape to finish the game.
They're big and physical. They're talented. They'll be fine.
Maybe there's one weakness and maybe it's not. Would be the DL IMO. Losing Jesse Williams is big.
If JUCO RT Leon Brown plays well we will be fine. Ryan Kelly was an All SEC center last year and he has been a beast so far this Spring. You can't replace Warmack at guard, period, ever. But guards are much easier to replace than OT's. Cyrus' older brother Arie looks to take that role. There are about 3 guys competing for that spot- lots of competition. Steen and Cyrus will be solid returners. If we can get our JUCO RT to come through, I think we will be fine. We have a hell of a pedigree with non-resign JUCO's- hopefully it continues. IMO:
LT- Cyrus Kouandjio JR (returner)
LG- Arie Kouandjio rJR
C- Ryan Kelly rSO
RG- Anthony Steen rSR (returner)
RT- Leon Brown JR (JUCO)
He looked like dynamite on punt returns last year for a week or two but then of course he went down
Sucks for the guy. Doesn't look like his career will ever take off. Nickel back may not be a bad spot for him. Shifty as hell and not afraid to hit. He about killed a Michigan player last year on kickoff
grain of salt?
Ryan Kelley was a freshman All-SEC last season. Big difference. He is just as big of a question mark, perfomance wise, than the other two. He needs to gain some size, but he should be solid for us. He won't be a road grader, but is a really good technician.
Leon will be in a battle with Austin Sheppard. That will be an interesting battle to watch. Arie will be a nice rock for us at LG if he can stay healthy.
Eat clean. Train Hard.
Arie hasn't been getting it done.
***was going to write out response that was very sarcastic and funny, decided not to instead.
That's why it's in quotes. Can't believe you don't remember. We made fun of that guy for weeks.
