Be brutally honest about your team....

  • Give me a 1)Best case scenario for your team, 2) worst case scenario for your team and 3) the area of your team that you think could cost you a game(s) or even your season.

    For WVU:

    1) Holgorsen's offense takes off in year 1, just like it has at all his other stops. Casteel proves why so many think he is a Top 5 DC in the country and fills the gaps left from last year's Top 3 defense. Get a big win against LSU at home and run through our schedule undefeated. Teams expected to go undefeated do not, leaving us as the only undefeated team in the country and assuring us a spot in the MNC game.

    2) Holgorsen's offense needs some getting used to. Way too many holes in the defense compared to last year. Coach squabbles over who is actually in charge (lame duck Bill Stewart or HCIW Dana Holgorsen) and players become divided. Team flounders to a 7 win season.

    3) The interior of our defense. It is downright scary to me. We lost our starting NT, two of our starting linebackers and our first backup LB to graduation. As of right now, our strong side DE has been our weak side DE the past two years (read: blitzing DE). He's always been great rushing the passer, but so-so against the run.... and now he will have to take on an extra blocker. Our two options at nose tackle consist of a former DE and a former walk on - one of which is currently suspended from the team for driving a car that had a gun in it. Our strongside backer has been moved to the middle LB out of necessity. He's not made for inside, but we have no other appealing options at MLB. I could most certainly see a team like LSU just pound the ball up the middle over and over again, grinding out first downs and keeping a potentially potent offense off the field. A slow, painful death all year long. It gives me nightmares.

1.) The team rallies around the controversy surrounding the program and goes 5-0 during the suspensions. The Tat 5 comeback sharp as ever for the trip to Lincoln and play like they never missed a beat. The team goes undefeated during the season and wins the inagural conference championship game in Indy. Pryor goes out with his third straight BCS bowl MVP and a national championship.

2.) The distractions surrounding the team coupled with the absence of the Tat 5 and Tressel for the first five games is just too much. Luke Fickell is a poor in game coach / manager and the team suffers because of lack of leadership on gameday. They drop games agains Miami and MSU to start off 3-2. The Tat 5 game back for the game in Lincoln out of sync and rusty dropping OSU 3-3. Ohio State fails to make it to the B1G championship game and misses out on a BCS game for the first time in 7 years.

3.) Wide receivers. OSU's receivers looked pretty bad in spring ball. Getting Posey back in game 6 will help but unless someone else steps up it could really cost Ohio State next year.

  • 1. Rob Bolden makes the Leap, Jack Crawford reverts to Sophomore form and Sean Stanley continues to progress at DE, which would give us the best D in the Big 10 and among the very best in America, and Barham and Okoli continue to get better at OT. That's all a recipe for an undefeated season

    2. No QB steps up, the oline regressed from last year, no DE steps up...7 - 5, 6 - 6

    3. Tie between QB and DE. I actually feel good about the OLine, which got better through spring, and has a set 5. But if no QB steps or no DE steps up, I have trouble believing we can win a Big 10 title

    1. Bama goes 14-0 and Trent Richardson wins the Heisman. Our defense is going to be sick

    2. 10-3, injuries and bad QB play

    3. QB- We have two young QB's fighting for the starting job. One is a redshirt freshman and the other is a redshirt sophomore. They are both talented, but young and don't have a lot of experience. If they have a really bad season, we could lose a game or two we are not supposed to. But that is the case with pretty much every team.

    1) MSU parlays an experienced QB/RB/WR/TE combination combined with an improved defensive front 4, led by Kiper's #12 overall pick for 2012, DT Jerel Worthy to a true dream season. The O and D, both good last year, step it up to "great", and with one of the best special teams units in the country (#14 nationally according to Phil Steele last year), doesn't need Little Giants to handle Notre Dame on the road. A trip to Ohio State is tough, but having a 3rd year starter at QB carries the day. A bye allows the team to gear up for a dominating 3 game stretch vs. Michigan, Wisconsin and @ Nebraska. After escaping Lincoln with a 2 point win, MSU crushes Indiana before getting revenge for Iowa's 37-6 win in 2010. 2 snoozers vs. Minnesota and Northwestern places MSU in the conference championship game, where MSU takes out the 3rd "power team" from the Leaders division, PSU. Traveling to the BCS championship game, MSU finally breaks the SEC stranglehold and carries the crystal football to EL.

    2) The OL never gels, meaning all the skill position talent goes to waste. Notre Dame, seeking revenge, goes for it on 4th down every single time and fakes every punt and kick. Unprepared for the onslaught of shenanigans, MSU loses 42-21. A quick W over Central Michigan dulls the pain before MSU realizes that not one starter on D for tOSU was part of the tatooed 5. The OL crumbles under the pressure, and Ohio State's "Tressel-ball approach" ends in a close W for the Buckeyes. A bye week and a win over Michigan restores some confidence, before Wisconsin comes in and just rolls along to a 28-7 W, with a 38 - 22 TOP advantage. A trip to Lincoln proves disasterous and MSU is held to just 3 FG in an ugly 24-9 L. An easy W over IU breaks the losing streak, but once again, MSU gets beat @ Iowa, dropping their record to 5-5. A home win over Minnesota makes MSU bowl eligible, but going to Evanston on SR day gives MSU it's 2nd 6-6 record in 3 years.

    3) O-line. We have 2 former DTs projected to start for the 2nd straight year, and these are 2 different former DTs! 5 possible starting candidates for the OL vacancies (LT, RT and C) were out injured this spring and one, Former Rivals100 OT David Barrent, retired from football due to injuries. There's hope that JUCO -AA Fou Fonoti can solidify one of the OT spots when he arrives this summer, thus knocking us down to 1 former DT starting, and allow stud RS Frosh Skylar Schofner (6'7 308, OT) to ease his transition to the starting line-up. Every other area on the team is good to excellent, but poor OL play could end up making MSU an 8-4/7-5 team instead of a 10-2 conference contender. A glimmer of hope is that 1 of the former DTs, Blake Treadwell, was actually a 4-star C on TOS and was only moved to DT once he got to MSU. I'd much rather have the C be a fomer DT, given the training for low-pad level, etc. that's essentialy for a DT, rather than a former DT playing OT.

    I love you.

    1. Undefeated and SEC Champs. Only game I see us as underdogs in (this early) is Arkansas, and that's only if Wilson is as good as many think he will be.

    2. 8-4. Pull a USC and lose games we shouldn't. Finish in tie for 2nd or 3rd in East.

    3. Secondary. We have the talent there, but it was scary how bad we looked against the pass last year. Hopefully our DL can get enough pressure on the QB's and it helps solidify the DB's.

You guys have the worst luck ever with QB's. After Dorsey, it was pretty much over. It's not like you did not recruit QB's well, because most of the guys you signed were highly rated. It just never worked out- Berlin, Guillon, Wright, Freeman, Marve, and Harris.

  • 1) The Offense works and Denard racks up 1000 yards rushing and 2000 yards pass.
The D goes from horrible to slightly better than average (in the Top 50 statistically)
10 wins for the season (including victories over Michigan State, Ohio State and a bowl opponent.

    2) Denard struggles under center
No RB emerges to be any kind of threat, meaning Denard feels like he has to do it all
The LB and DB play remains atrocious
The kicking game continues to be a joke
6 wins including a 4th straight loss to State and another beat down by Ohio State.

    3) Injuries. The depth on both lines is scary (especially OLine).
Turnover margin HAS to improve. We have not taken care of the ball on offense and force few TOs on defense.

  • 1.) Denard Robinson and the entire offense really surprises everyone with how well they has adapte to the pro style system. Denard isn't going to run as much and doesn't get hurt in every game he plays. The defense learns how to tackle better, cover better, and react better under the coaching of Saint Mattison. Best case scanerio they win 10 games with a shot at the B1G CG. There will be games where the offense can't move the ball or the defense will go back to old ways, bad angle running etc.
2.) The offense just struggles and can't move the ball. Poor execution, poor throws by Robinson, to many turnovers. The defense was aweful last year and can only get better under Mattison, even if its just a little bit. Worst case I see 6-6 7-5
3.) Stupid penalties, poor decisions, injuries, transition year. This year could possibly be a long year for the Wolverines

  • 1. Best case scenario ... 9-3 during the regular season to win the sec east for the first ever Tennessee vs Alabama sec championship game match up.
    2. Worst case scenario ... 6-6 record regular season with two losses as heartbreaking as the lsu and north Carolina losses were....
    3. Youth... Team is still very very young. There is talent in several areas, but it's not deep. Not enough talented seniors to help survive a brutal sec schedule. Dooley needs one more year and a lot of growth in a hurry from his young squad.

Yeah if FSU doesn't get it done with Jimbo Im pretty much cashing it in and just giving up on following sports altogether

These last 10 years have been brutal and it just isn't worth it, Im a fan of some of the worst teams and organizations ever and most have a curse on top of them.

I've dealt with the untimely murder of a favorite player who was in the middle of his best season and just starting to come into his prime ( Sean Taylor )

I've dealt with a owner who does everything he can to rip off his fans while consistently putting a large pile of chit on the field year after year ( Dan Synder )

We fired Michael Jordan and ran him out of town

Gilbert Arenas went from a promising star to injured badly and completely retarded in a few short hours it seemed, signed this guy for 100 million roflmao

I could go on for days but I need to take a break, hell I didn't even bring up the Caps and Nationals and only touched on the Skins and Wiz ( Strasburg getting Tommy John surgery after a few appearances in his first year, standard ) Bryce Harper is screwed if he sticks around here.

FSU is the only thing I follow anymore and for good reason.

I still like the Nationals and will give them time but deep down I have no hope cause Strasburg proved the Washington area sports curse is all over them too.

Well, we are not completely sure that Dabo will be gone if we underachieve again this year. Our AD has no intentions of Dabo moving on anytime soon. He has stated on multiple occasions that if his Dabo experiment doesn't work, he will pack up his office along with Dabo.

I think even if our AD wanted to hire RichRod, it would be hard to convince our president/board to do so. I fully expect the next coach we hire to be just as bad as the last 5 we have made, save Tommy Bowden.

If Dabo can right the ship, and I applaud him for making coaching changes, I will eat a healthy serving of crow, but I just don't see it happening. Sorry for the rant.

  • Best case scenario would be for Weis to get Brantley's confidence up... If he becomes a leader, and the running gm is efficient... 9+ wins out of a very difficult schedule.

If this doesn't happen then 8-5 is what we will see again.

Well you can say we are fielding a team full of freshmen, with new systems being implemented on off/def... If players are still thinking and not reacting by week 3, UT gm, it could be another long season.
