Yeah, we have an embarassment of riches at TE. I'd like to see how many TEs in the country match up physically to James in size and athleticism.
When you have the Mackey award winner you tend to not throw to the back ups too often. We've got Troy Nicklas who is a Zach Ertz clone but bigger and faster with 2yrs leftand then we have Welch who could be a late round pick and Koyack, Heuerman, and Smythe who are all receiving TEs with Koyack having 3yrs of eligibility and the other 2 have 4-5yrs left and were all top 10 TEs in the class....ND usually makes NFL TEs out of under recruited players and now we're getting the good ones.
So, no? Got it. Give me a break on recruiting rankings. PSU is returning 3 guys who had a combined like 6 stars and they had more catches/yards/tds than all of ND's TE's last year, including Eifert. So assuming 100% of Eifert's stats are replaced, you're still about 300 yards and 3 tds behind PSU. Luckily, nobody knows what to expect from PSU QB's, so PSU's TE production could fall and help ND out there.

And Houston and Hawaii receivers put up a lot of stats too, guess they win for WRs. As long as all of our TEs are going to the league I don't see how we're not in the conversation.
I'll agree you're in the conversation most years (never said you weren't). But this year, with 0 returning guys with over 5 catches, it's very tough for me to say you should be in the conversation at this point.
I'd throw Xavier Grimble, Randall Telfer, and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick up against any TE group, but we won't throw to them so it doesn't matter.
Tends to happen when you have 2 receivers like Woods/Lee. Although I haven't watched Lane closely to say whether not throwing to a TE is his thing or just a product of having two ridiculous WRs.
That's what your run-blocking fullbacks are for
When I attempted -- rather pathetically -- to go through Cincinnati's winter workout program earlier this year, I joked to the strength coaches that maybe I could at least do as well as a punter. They shook their heads and told me I had a long way to go to match their punter in the weight room.
Well, now I don't feel quite so bad about it. Colleague Bruce Feldman has released his annual "Freaks" list of workout warriors, and Bearcats punter Pat O'Donnell scored a victory for punters everywhere by checking in at No. 10. Writes Feldman:
"Yes, a punter. Don't roll your eyes, though. This guy is one of the more imposing punters since the Pittsburgh Panthers' MMA fighter Dave Brytus. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound O'Donnell has a 355-pound bench, broad jumps 9'2" and his 10-yard split of 1.53 seconds is actually faster than the time Jeff Demps clocks."
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
Our guys are most likely going to get drafted too. James and Carter 100% will be drafted and if they keep improving could be picked pretty high, especially James. Then Breneman has all the potential in the world and Wilkerson from all accounts can really play as well.
Greater Gator, I've been right more than you've ever made predictions. Kiss of death my ass.
This thread has been very good, let's stick to it.
While those guys are great, Lane/Barkley locked onto them all season. Kind of easy to defend them when you know who's getting the ball every play.
Hahaha well played.
Oh and JC Copeland is easily the best FB in the nation.
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
I'd take Hunter Joyer
That's easy to say when I don't make any predictions.
Lane Kiffin FTW!
I bet you would.. But Copeland is the best in the country, no doubt.
Pretty close but I would say we had a touch more rushing yards against you guys head to head this past season.
Copeland has been killing it for 3 years now, almost beat Bama by himself. 280 pound man child.
He's from the state of Florida if that makes you like him more, was a DT in high school
Judging a coach as a failure when he's 37 for the win! I made a career prediction. You mad a couple season denouncement. Shit like that makes this board unbearable, more than anything else.
Best TE group is probably UW, ASJ and whoever his backup is. Best TE in the country and it isn't even close.
Then leave. Trust me, no one will miss you nor mourn the loss.
LK sucks. He ain't sh_t, he was never sh_t & he won't ever be sh_t. Everyone knows this but you. You have some huge crush on him bc you made sure his office bathroom never ran outta toilet paper for a few months at Tennessee. "Supposedly."
Man, you act like a female.

There seems to be enough data on Kiffin at this point to judge him. I'd say it's more ridiculous to expect dog crap to turn into gold than it is to say he's a bad coach.
