According to one study ...

In for the 'big 3' meltdown...
Interesting study... but how did they come to those numbers?
Ummmmm... Not much info on their research
If a roster is made up of mostly 4-5* recruits, wouldn't that mean more 4-5* recruits won't make it to the NFL?
no because statistics would show 5 stars should make it more often than others
Pic Sigs are for losers.
If a roster is 70-75%, 4* and 5* players, there is going to be a very large %age of those recruits that don't make it to the NFL.
That formula seems really simplistic.
Doesn't surprise me at all, the more stars on the team the less they shine.
Also FSU had horrible coaching for a while (basically modern Cane level)
Well we had Randy and he failed to develop a single 1st rounder
It was coaching. Fsu was doing fine producing NFL talent in the 90's. It started right after mark richt took the Georgia job and bowden threatened to quit if fsu didn't hire his son as the oc. The coaching was dog shit until we got rid of bowden. With jimbo in his 3rd season fsu had 11 players drafted. So he has turned the coaching part around.
Yeah, it does.
Three other things:
1) 4* don't count as "elite" IMO. There's about 300 players who can be considered 4* in any given year. More, if you are willing to go with kids who are 4* on just one site.
2) I don't really consider "turning" elite players into draft picks that notable. If elite kids are going to schools and NOT turning into draft picks more often than at other schools, that's notable. But how responsible is South Carolina (as an example) for Jadeveon Clowney's development? He could have gone to Delaware State and still been drafted for sure, if not first overall.
3) Did Steve Helwagen write this? That formula doesn't consider whether the draft picks were 4* or 5*. If a school turns 3* into draft picks, but doesn't have any 4* or 5* drafted, they could still rate highly even though they didn't do anything for those "elite" recruits.
No kidding....that school had the most remarkable era ever, in CFB. Doubt it will ever be duplicated again by any other university in the country.
How many of those players will end up in the Pro Hall of Fame? Amazing.
