I prefer the Texas brisket. Saltlick ftw.
I don't know because I haven't had BBQ in every state. Nobody here has. I'll just do what everyone else is going to do, and say the one close to my home, so North Carolina.
Texas salt licks is good but there's shimittys in lockheart Texas twice as better. I think it's spelled that way
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It is already tomorrow in Australia. - charles m Schulz
Gotta go with North Carolina as well. It's the only state I've ever lived in that is known for BBQ, but I've been to the other states several times as well. I think it really comes down to what you like. If you like brisket it's going to be texas. If you like ribs it's going to be Missouri or TN. If you like pulled pork, it's going to be NC. I personally prefer pulled pork.
Place called Sticky Fingers.
If youre going to get Texas brisket, go to Franklins. Its worth the wait.

It is worth the wait, but there was a place called JMueller, also in Austin that was just as good if not better with half the line. Unfortunately there was a family dispute recently and John Mueller who was the pit master is no longer there. John is the grandson of the famous Louie Mueller in Taylor, Texas and Aaron Franklin worked for John Mueller when he was getting into the business.
I think his brisket was unmatched and there's no argument that his beef ribs were unmatched. But yeah, Franklin is better than any other place right now.
South Carolina. Pee Dee region to be specific.
Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizophrenic and so am I.
Yeah I keep meaning to go there. I will one of these weekends
No St. Louis or Kansas City mentioned?
SC (or NC) since you have ketchup, mustard, and vinegar/pepper based all on in one state. Thats a strong argument.
I've heard it's nowhere close to when John was there. The pit master now is actually a kid that came over from Franklin.
agreed, a little bit of everything over here
Kansas is up there!
Give me all your BBQ. I'm not picky on which style, if it's good, it's good.
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
Beef is not BBQ
KC, Missouri without question. Gates, Oklahoma Joes, and Arthur Bryant's.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Glad somebody said it!
Eating BBQ in Columbus Ohio your team wouldn't lose a game for the year

Having eaten Memphis BBQ, stayed in downtown east Memphis not the really sketchy west, KC BBQ, and Texas BBQ, I forgot the name of the restaurant, some German sounding place in Texas, Texas hands down. I have yet to hit the eastern states, but I don't think anything can beat Texas.
Sticky Fingers is a franchise now. Their quality went down but stI'll good. I like ribs and I've never had a terrible experience with them. Fat Matt's in Atlanta is good. Dreamland used time be the best imo until they franchised .
