PSU lost to UVA and Ohio last year
Safe to say PSU could easily lose to most teams in the big ten moving forward sans Illinois
Conveniently forgetting the way Penn State plowed through most of the Big Ten after those two games. Whatever you want to believe.
Should we be expecting MSU to lose to Iowa and Northwestern again?
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Does MSU have major schollie hits that will only get worse?
Nope, just mediocre recruiting and poor coaching.
You're affiliated with a state that went to war to keep its slaves. You should be ashamed of yourself.
That's how moronic your post sounds.
It should get easier every year on out. But ultimately, you're right about the injuries. We get a few bad ones and it will hurt.
We played at 70 last year, and will be at 64 actual players this year (two quit but keep their ship) so well see.
One thing in our favor is the schedule. Let's be honest, the Big Ten stinks and our OCC isn't scary at all.
Another thing to watch for is PSU going WVU style on O. My bet is that's where we are headed for the next few years.
So you think year one of the sanctions and schollie limitations is the worst of it?
I think he meant it should get easier to attract a better coach each passing year. Which makes sense because every year gets closer to the end of sanctions. Could be mistaken though.
Yea love how only the UVA and Ohio games are brought up. UVA we clearly should have won too and Ohio was BOB's first game as a head coach. Pretty clear he got much better as the year went on.
Those first two games were a major adjustment period for the coaching staff and the team. It was extremely obvious that they were feeling each other out on how they would operate come gameday.
Trust me, I was on the sideline for the Ohio game along with multiple other games during the season. It was a major adjustment period.
The perfect gift to add to your Christmas list or to buy for a PSUer in your family
I pointed out the same thing & got down voted for it. The loss of scholies are what is going to really hurt moving forward. Tough crowd in here.
Yes he did. O'Brein is a keeper IYAM.
He's confused. This guy thought he'd be a championship chaser and all he's getting his a guy who fakes a heart attack and one who will suffer a heart attack after he keeps dropping GD's on the domers sideline
Good for Penn State & Bob, I hope he stays for a long time.
Our quarterback does front flips, suck it.
No 1, he stood in the pocket and delivered just in time a pass that only Robinson could get. We were barely accross the 50 on that play. If we don't convert, that is a huge momentum swing. The MOX killed it.
That's 4 plays (including the discount double check) and that is just off the top of my head. You should go to Scranton and buy some flowers from mama and papa MOX as appreciation. If we had to go with Boldin, Jones or Bench, we would have been lucky to win 5 games.
Go from winning titles to losing the Sun Bowl, and keep your job...
Only at USC.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
Sorry bro, your team sucked ass even with Barkley. Zero wins against top 25 teams. Pathetic.
You're not, that's what I meant. Also recruiting gets easier as well.
I hope BOB leaves before he has no sanctions. Might be scary what he could do with a full roster.
The first two games of the year, yeah. Kind of a hard situation to be thrown into as a new coach taking over for Paterno, having crippling sanctions thrown at you, countless transfers, all the negative news around the program, the hype for the season, etc. Then he only rebounded and coached pretty darn good in the B1G. Remember, we almost beat Nebraska, we pulled out an OT win against Wisky.
People tend to forget we basically played with a sanctioned roster last year. Our "run on" program is going to be very important for us going forward, especially in assembling a good practice squad and special teams unit. BOB has taken note of what Nebraska does with theirs and is trying to do the same at Penn State. 7-8 wins a year as long as Hack pans out and we keep recruiting the way we are is reasonable.
...right. Being in your first two games EVER has a Head Coach at ANY LEVEL, while in the toughest coaching job in the country at the time didn't play any part in those losses. Especially the one where his kicker missed 4 FG's and an XP.
Barkley was the top QB in the nation in HS. He threw 15 picks last season, while having some of the best offensive weapons in the country, including our former starting RB, who proceeded to have less rushing yards than our current starting RB.
McGloin was a former walk-on from Scranton. He threw 5.
Kiffin is trash, and deep down you know it. Marginalize BOB's achievement as you like, you are entitled to your opinion. But do not tell us that Kiffin should not have done better...

How many players did PSU play with this year?
How many will they have moving forward?
Still think you are underestimating the hit of Schollies. 7-8 wins over the next 5 years would be shocking and if that did happen- BOB should win coy every season
We played with 67 last year. We play with 66 this year. 65 moving forward. No difference between what you saw last year and what you'll see moving forward.
