Pretty big. He cant be any worse than JJ right now.
Gonna have to get Chipper a tour bus if they want to be able to play him on road trips.
i was or have been wrong on him as well , really surprised he is pitching so well at this level and so quickly . Saw him pitch at Vandy several times and not really that impressed but not impressed with our SS at all so far ...love the Simmons kid and think he will be starting by year end
everyone is really started to hit the ball much better and Freeman is off the charts hot as well
What's big is Heyward..finally swinging the bat well. His whole approach is great.
Haven't talked with any of you guys in the Brave's Thread as of yet.. Huge fan here. Heyward swinging it again is HUGE..
My Grandmother died in her favorite chair watching a Brave's game.. She never missed a game that was televised.. If it wasn't, she had it on the radio, listening with 120% focus. She was a great woman and biggest Braves fan ever. I love the ATL Braves because of Granny.
Here is to a good season everybody!

"Get in where you fit in." Life is, Too Short TL;DR
I hope the bats can continue to be hot on the West Coast road trip.
absolutely great story , lots of great family memories are centrered around going to Braves games
Love the hitting the last 3-4 games, but still pissed about Dan "garbage" Uggla. Guy flat out sucks for what we are paying him. Would love to have him for $6-8 mil per year, but $13 is just bad. Problem is, there is absolutely no team that would take this guy even if we wanted to get rid of him. Had one decent AB last night in the 9th, but that was with the bases empty and him leading off. Add his terrible AVG with RISP, along with four errors in the first 13 games and we wayyyy overpaid for this guy. Just another waste of $4-5 mil the Braves could use.
On a good note, most of the guys are hitting extremely well right now outside of SS and Garbage man. However, most scouts pointed out prior to the season that Pastornicky is a below AVG offensive SS.
Also for anyone interested, he are some updates on some Brave prospects.
Jordan Parraz (OF) - .340 AVG (hit .319 in spring trng with the club); Braves aren't high on him because he hits for AVG, not power. Got a hit and reached base in 14 of 15 games thus far.
Terdoslavich (3B) - supposedly Chipper's replacement at third, however to say the kid is a fielding liability is an understatement. Has committed 36 errors between 1B and 3B in the last two seasons. Already has 5 errors in 14 games this year. However, the Braves think he is the second coming of Chipper. Had 52 doubles, 20 HR, and 82 RBIs in 131 games in A+ last year. This year, he is hitting .250 for Gwinnett.
Teheran (P) - most Bravo fans know this guy is a solid pitching prospect. Had trouble in Spring Trng, posting a 9.37 ERA giving up 17 runs in 16.1 IP. Been good for Gwinnett thus far, with a 2.17 ERA giving up 3 runs over 12.1 IP. Curious to see if they bring him up some time this year after the break.
T. Redmond (P) - was the best pitcher in all of AAA last year (2.92 ERA over 169 IP). Another guy the Braves aren't very high on because of his age (27). He also didn't pitch great in the spring, 7.50 ERA with 5 runs over 6 IP. Would love to see this guy come up into the pen and replace Durbin or "Pancake" Hernandez before he eats his way through the bullpen.
Simmons (SS) - our best SS prospect, including Pastornicky. Currently struggling to begin the season, hitting .256; interested to see how his season progresses.
Bethancourt (C) - McCann's replacement; like Simmons he has struggled at the plate, only hitting .200 early in the season.
Mycal Jones (OF/3B) - Utility prospect "apparently" however he can't hit a lick. The last three years, he has hit only .253; the Braves are high on him as well for some reason.
Gilmartin (P) - Another pitching prospect the staff really likes. Did pitch pretty solid in Spring Trng, posting a 3.00 ERA giving up 2 runs over 6 IP. Has a 3.50 ERA (7 Earned over 18 IP) thus far for Mississippi.
Drury (3B) - Was a 13th Rd selection by Atlanta in 2010. Had a bad 2010 season, only batting .198 over 52 games and 192 plate appearances. Had a very good '11 season though, hitting .347 in 256 AB's for Danville. Struggled once again so far for in Rome (.157 BA).
Lipka (OF/SS) - Converted from SS to OF last year because he has speed to burn. Was a WR in high school and it's definitely transferred over to baseball. Was 20 for 23 in the stolen base department over 48 games in the Gulf League in 2010. However, only swiped 28 bases in 42 attempts during the 2011 campaign. Needs to improve his offense; only posted a .225 BA last year in Rome and off to slow start this year (.220 BA).
JR Graham (P) - Kid has a cannon. Hit's 100+ mph consistently on the radar. Will be in the Braves bullpen for many years if he continues to progress. Posted a 1.72 ERA in 2011, giving up 11 runs over 57.2 IP. So far in 2012, he has a 3.00 ERA (6 runs over 18 IP). Hopefully this guy will continue to improve and fly through the farm system.
I don't know what the Braves are looking to do in the draft, but they desperately need to trade whatever they can to acquire Houston's #1 pick and draft Byron Buxton (OF from Baxley, GA). Kid is going to be a big time player in the OF.
great update , love the info on the prospects and agree that Simmons is the DAD
Chipper in the lineup tonight. Good for my parlay and my fantasy team.
Them not having Chris Young is a big help for us. We need to take advantage of it. These next three pitchers aren't as bad as that tomato can they threw at us last night.
Uggla made it on base, lol.
I dont mind Uggla..he's there for his power. He might be a little overpaid, but he'll hit close to 40 hr.
Everyone kept saying how bad he was last year....then look how hot he got in the 2nd half. Carried our team basically.
Freeman is gonna be fun to watch over the next years....
3 time POTW, member since 2006, MLWTI: 4-3
Team MVP this year IMO.
Dude is awesome
Little quick blind take your pick as I want to see who you would take without knowing who they are. Please don't look the players up, once some people vote I'll add names to the list:
-These were last year's stats
Stats are Avg/OBP/OPS/HR/RBI
Player A - .255/.355/.832/32/77, $7.2 million / year, 7.7 WAR
Player B - .307/.387/.861/21/91, $8.25 million / year, 8.0 WAR
Player C - .233/.311/.764/36/82, $13 million / year, 2.5 WAR
Player D - .269/.353/.822/20/91, $4.7 million / year, 6.6 WAR
Now of those 4, who would you choose.
Edit: added WAR as well.

"Isn't it amazing what somebody will do when he can't bunt." - Vin Scully
Freeman is coming along nicely. Love it.
Hell yes Brian
Exactly, Uggla carried the team for about a month. However, he should carry the team longer than that when he gets all star money. The highest paid 2B in the NL, but is he an All Star? Not even close to one.
Not saying he's not overpaid, but he catches more hell than he should. They wanted Uggla for his power, not Avg. or OBP.
He needs to be moved from second base. His errors are so bad they should count double.
