Your d-line is very good. Linebackers are pretty meh (Stephone Anthony has more tackles than Jeffrey and Holloman combined and he still looks lost half the time he's on the field). Your secondary is pretty average.
Clemson's d-line is terrible. Our LB's are not very good (hopefully it has more to do with age than anything) and our secondary is the worst it's been in the past decade.
What have you seen so far this year to make you think our D is worse?
Something legitimate, not "this guy got drafted, so they'll now be playing 10 man defense".
And my balls have more sacks than Nkemdiche. Doesn't mean he sucks.
Losing Ingram was a pretty big blow on the d-line. And even though I don't think Gilmore had a phenomenal junior season, losing him didn't help your already average secondary. Antonio Allen wasn't a world beater, but he was still pretty good. Your LB's haven't been very good for a while, so that's not much of a change.
I think we can both agree the strength of your defense is your line.
Also, this is not a flame, are you guys taking a DT in this class? Or just gonna move someone inside?
Ray Lewis' nephew plays for Clemson. Clemson: 1, Davidson: 0.
Take a lap.
Statistically, Chaz Sutton's filled in well as a versatile backup. And again, Clowney was Ingram's backup, he replaces him.
So far, what have you seen from the collective units that makes you think they're worse? Last year, I felt like we were statistically overrated on D due to offensive schemes of our opponents. This year I actually buy into our defense through 4 games.
Right now DT looks like Kelcy Griffin, JUCO or bust. Thankfully UGA shat the bed on Griffin, although I think he'd still go there if they accepted him.
Clemson has the worst defense in the nation. Kentucky would beat them.
I think your secondary is still average, so not much of a change from last year.
Linebackers: See above.
D-Line is still very good. I think Ingram as a senior is more valuable than Clowney as a Freshman.
I also think that losing Fitz is certainly not going to make your team better.
Clemson would finish 4th in the East to be sure. They're not as good as UGA, USC, or UF. I'll give them the W over TN. I'll give them 4th in the West as well. I'm not sure they'd beat A&M or Miss St. But, since I'm impressed with the Aggies, and not ready to buy into Miss St. (I may soon) I'll put them at 4th.
Someone said Clemson and USC were about even. I respect the right to the opinion. But, that person doesn't actually watch many football games. Carolina will roll the Tigers again this year.

South Carolina Gamecocks. The 2010 National College Baseball Champs.
your missing the point, Clemson knew they couldn't go right at FSU so they had to run gadget plays, once they ran out of those and eventually wore down FSU took over. if they had tried to go toe to toe they might have scored 17
I think we would beat Clemson if we play simply because of what we like to do on offense which is run the ball (of which Clemson can't stop) and control the clock (#5 in the nation in time of possesion) which would keep their offense off the field
That being said I think Bama, Lsu, USCe, UGA, UF and maybe AnM (That game would be a shoot out) are all better than Clemson at this point

Most of these opinions are exactly what i thought they would be.
Clemson is a dumpster fire on defense with elite weapons on offense being blocked for by 5 derps. (nutshell).
Middle of the pack SEC team, upper tier ACC team.
I was at the FSU game as well as some that have posted and it definitely looked like Clemson new that this game would define their entire season and they pulled out all the stops.
One question. WTF happened to all those stud LBs that Clemson recruited maybe 2/3 years ago. I remember them having a stellar class with Steward and a couple other 5 stars.
Steward is recovering from an ACL injury. Stephone Anthony is our leading tackler, but still isn't as far along as I thought he would be.

Um...we've got the 5th ranked defense in the country and I believe Shaw was national player of the week of some sort now that he's feeling semi-healthy. Jus' Sayin. IMHO, if we stay healthy our defense will overwhelm Clemson again.
Bellamy rb- gone
Steward lb- hurt
Anthony lb- maybe overrated still young
Watkins WR- stud
On paper yes, your defense would overwhelm Clemson. But on Paper FSU's defense was going to destroy them.
Clemson has a REALLY good offensive coordinator. Period. And he has a lot of toys to play with.
No one is going to overwhelm Clemson's offense.
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or it may last a year. But eventually, it will subside. If i quit, however it will last forever.
I appreciate your opinion, and I agree that Clemson has a great OC. I also agree that Clemson has spome great playmakers, probably as good as anyone in the country. And, I congratulate the Noles for fielding a very good team this year. But, let me throw out a couple of stats. Last year Clemson put up 35 points on FSU and racked up 443 yards. The same Clemson team ony scored 13 on the Gamecocks and racked up a whopping 153 yards. This year, despite the fact that we lost a few to the NFL,our defense is looking very stout again. The point being is that, respectfully, the FSU defense, while being a good defense, isn't on par with the Gamecock defense. Clemson moved the ball well on FSU the last two years, they haven't moved the ball well against the Gamecocks for two years previous, and our defense is as good as ever this year. Our D-Line will overwhelm them again and force Boyd into more turnovers.
Clemson might be better than every team in the SEC besides Alabama. It's too early to tell.
Well Shaq Wilson has more tackles combined than Shuey and Wright. Not really sure why comparing the LB with the most tackles to 4th and 5th LBs in tackles has to do with anything, but whatever.
You may run like Hayes, but you hit like $*!#
Clemson scored 1 TD against South Carolina last year. I'm not worried.
Can anyone update me on the extent to which Shaw's injury hampered his play last weekend?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think it's too early to tell. Like...at all. Clemson struggled to beat what seems to be a pretty bad Auburn team. Clemson played their superbowl and gave up 49 points.
Their Oline is noticeably bad. Their run defense is noticeably bad (and their pass rush/secondary isn't much to write home about).
Have you watched SEC football lately? A bad Oline + a bad run defense does not equate to success in the SEC.
I don't think it's too early to tell at all.
Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizophrenic and so am I.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Demario and Devonte your starting LB's?
Spencer Shuey plays like 5 minutes a game....on special teams.
And Quandon Christian is not a good measuring stick of success. He is the worst LB we have ever had.
Our O-line is a lot better this year than last, which makes it very average. But, Carolina's is pretty average through 4 games.
