Baseball is not based on home runs. If the hitters gapped a hit it could easily be a triple.
Show me where I said baseball was based on homeruns? I said when you connect with one that is a homerun in 98% of college parks and its just a weak fly out in Omaha that sucks. 3 homeruns in 13 games. That's ridiculous for the 8 best teams in the country. Homeruns ARE part of the game, however, and they shouldn't be basically eliminated in Omaha.
Blame the NCAA for deadening the bats and the baseballs they use. Lower the seams on the ball and it will fly 15-20 feet farther
This...and I think they will end up doing that
That and go to wood bats
I thought they were already changing the ball for next season?

They have a contract or whatever thru 2014
They have been talking about doing it when the contract is up.
Who ya got tonight?
UCLA. Small ball wins at that park
I think so as well. They just keep it simple and put pressure on the defense to make plays.
Yea, I don't get why a lot of people are saying that UCLA is lucky. I mean you have to have some luck to win a championship in anything, but they just force you to make plays.
To expensive to fund all wood with fall, spring and the season. Most schools baseball budget be blown out of the water
If anything they have been timely, not often a team hits under 200 for series and wins. I'm guessing on there average but its low
No doubt they have been timely. They just make you pay for mistakes.
I don't think it would be if they went with bamboo or composite like I was talking about earlier. Those are damn near impossible to break.
Helluva run by State, but sometimes you just have to tip your cap.
Not even...they were hitting .179 or something ridiculous before tonight.
State will always be State. The only other SEC team to never win a natty in any sport...Sewanee.

Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it's not as hard as it seems - Led Zeppelin
Short season A ball or Low A in general, yea each team has some good arms etc. but in the minors plenty of guys throw hard and we got guys from all over Dominican, Venezuela, etc. a lot of guys my first year were All Americans, or there conference player of the year, Etc. Prob being generous giving it low A. Not every guy on those teams will get drafted or if they do get passed A ball
More I thought about it, a bottom of the rung low A team. Considering UCLA offense probably dam near last, there staff helps but you need a 5 man rotation not just there big few

How did what he said strengthen your argument about your HS team? There is no town in the country that could field a team that could win the CWS. Hell, it wouldn't even be close. According to you, your team had, what, like 6 guys go on to be good to great college players and your local private school had like 3? That argument is about like the one where people think Alabama could beat the Browns.
They are a good enough baseball team to compete in A ball because of how well they execute and play together etc...but they aren't going to be nearly as deep as a professional team.
For example, if you force your way into a college team's pen at the back end of a series there are going to be some big holes, but a professional team will keep pouring out guy after guy. Or, the bottom 1/3 of good division 1 teams were usually pretty easy outs for me pitching "by the book", but I had to work and mix on almost every guy in the pros.
I remember going to see my first division 1 game after I was done with pro ball, and was blown away by the difference in speed of the game and size of the players. It was a different level for sure.
Another CWS.....another champ from the Southeast.
at West coast baseball.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Titles don't matter. What matters is how tough your out of conference schedule was. Even if you lose most of those games what matters is that you got your ass kicked by good teams. Whichever team wins tonight that title will ring hollow because they didn't get their nuts kicked into their throats by enough good teams in the non-conference part of their schedule.
Well, another year, another SEC championship.
SOUTH >>>> the rest
congrats to Vandy , good win
