... not that you won't get drafted, but all your lies and whoreish false attention-seeking cost you a first round selection. Hope it was worth it.
Let's be serious, plenty of NFL teams would look past this if they thought he was uber talented. As much as I think Manti is an idiot and a liar, it's not like he was arrested for something ridiculous. I think the uplifting story just covered up that he wasn't quite the first round talent last year that the media made him out to be (until the incident).
NFL teams don't want to deal with drama and media attention. That is why Tebow is treated like cold trash and will be playing in Canada this season. Even though he could be a competent backup at a growing number of teams implementing systems where he would succeed the media attention and drama is to much for a NFL GM to bother with.
Thought you were talking about Mauti for a sec
BTW - the B1G had one player Drafted in the first round considering you are talking about Uber Talent.
Te'o going in the first round would've been a joke anyway. Not because of the whole fake girlfriend thing, but because it isn't a 1st round talent IMO. Just like Geno isnt.
Second round lock I would think
I don't think that had anything to do with it, IMO. Maybe for a few teams, but I think there are a lot more pressing character issues in the long run.
I think the bad taste the BCSCG left in people's mouth caused more harm than that. Then a slower than ideal 40 time at the combine didn't change the downward momentum.
I think he will be a solid, but not great NFL player that will probably start for 8 or 9 years. I don't mind drafting guys in the middle that aren't speed guys, because if someone can play without ideal speed, then they are probably a pretty smart player. Down the road when the speed guys lose a step and can't adapt, guys that never completely relied on speed usually have a little more staying power.
Tebow will not be playing in Canada. His style of play doesn't fit cfL at all.
Mauti wasn't a first round talent and has had multiple serious knee injuries. He would have been drafted in the first few rounds instead of the late rounds minus the injuries, but that has nothing to do with Manti. The B1G wasn't good this year, so not sure what your point is. I'm certainly not a B1G homer or an idiot. Sorry that Manti wasn't drafted in the first round, but there's a reason for that and it has less to do with his lies than people think.
Hope he can past the injures and have a good career.
I think we can all agree that Mauti would have been a 2nd or 3rd round pick without the knee injuries. I think we can all also agree that NFL teams would point to him as a leader WAY before Te'o.
You act like ND fans are sore he did not go first round? He was slated at best 25th for months. He had a terrible combine, a par pro day and most non-homer ND fans know Teo struggles shedding off blocks. He benefitted from a strong D-Line and having above average instincts. You keep saying Alabama exposed Teo??? Alabama had 2 guys on the line go first round and Te celebrated Barrett Jones is still waiting - name a LB core they did not expose??? This proves your juvenile hate for ND.
The kid is still going to be a millionaire regardless.
You have blasted him in several threads - how pathetic is your life MOD that you are repeatedly flaming a kid because you hate ND which is motivated (typical Penn State fan) by an inferiority complex to ND for what ever stupid reason.
If you actually think Mauti is a 1st/2nd round pick aside from injuries - you are completely delusional and blind to your fandom.
Thanks for playing
You mean Cheerleader - there is no combine score for Rah Rah guy however.
How was Mauti a leader??? Because he publicly scrutinized players leaving PSU after the cover up?
WTF are you talking about. I was responding to the Bama fan who acted like the stupid Lennay Kekua BS cost him. It didn't. It was the NFL judging his talent that cost him. Reread my post.
And as for Mauti, I said first few rounds without multiple knee injuries. First few = 3rd round or higher most likely. It's impossible to prove either way, but I don't think it's a homer statement and I think many would agree.

Shav said he would have been picked "in the first few rounds" which means rounds 1-3. Look around on the internet... draft experts have said he would have been a 2nd/3rd round (day 2) pick.
And yes, ND fans are sore. We were told on tBB countless times that Te'o would be a first round pick regardless of his scandal, regardless of his crappy NC game and regardless of his combine. All those weaknesses you have pointed out above were brushed off a month ago by the ND faithful.
You can't be serious...
JMO, but I don't think Manit got exposed against Bama as much as Nix couldn't command a double team (yes, he was going against a great center) like was able to for most of the year and it left Manti exposed to Warmack, who I think is the best OL I have seen in a long time when it comes to run blocking. If a MLB has to deal with a G of that caliber all night, it is not a battle that they are going to win consistantly. The same thing happened with Ogletree as well, but I think most teams saw him as someone that had a little more athletic ability and could do more and play inside or maybe outside as well.
Manti got overhyped for sure, as do a lot of players at big time programs (Barrett Jones included to some extent), but he is still going to be a solid pro, IMO and I wouldn't criticize any team that may have taken him towards the end of the 1st round. You just don't see true MLBers go early anymore unless they are truly a special talent.
Without the injuries, Mauti would have been in the same pool with Minter and Manti, IMO as guys that could have been in the end of the 1st, but probably more likely the 2nd round.
Yeah, but if I ever mention ND in a post, Leppy must spread the gospel that I love pedophiles and am praying for child rape and am a delusional cult member incapable of objectivity and reasonableness.
Name the ND fan who was saying this..
Hilarious - you feel like you won something that he did not go 2nd round
Anything to take away from the fact he's a Penn State fan. It's all they have left. Putting others down makes him feel better. That's how low they've sunk. You could probably lump them in with MSU. Pathetic fan base.
Salty haters: keeping us relevant since 1996.
You still not going to respond to my post saying that the point of my thread was to say the Bama fan was wrong about the Lennay crap, and not to put down Manti, just to say he wasn't a first round talent (which you seem to agree with)?
Te'o is a crazy, gay, liar. Those guys just normally don't go 1st rd. Sorry about it.
You're crazy if you think character didn't come into play here. No doubt it did.
