If so who and how?
The Chineese would be my guess, but would they be alone?
This is obviouly a worst case senario hypothetical event that I've always found interesting.
Why attack North America? Is there anything to gain? If the Middle East dries up which it will at some point, do the Chineese make a first strike on the Russian pipelines or do they join forces and make a move on the largest oil/natural gas deposits remaining here in North America. We have a massive store of fossil fuels in the Canadian oil sands and massive oil shale deposits in the midwest/NW. If I'm not mistaken there is actually more fossil fuels in North America than anywhere, we just can't efficiently and in a cost effective manner refine it. I'm sure there are more educated posters who know more oil shale than I do.
Energy neccesity is the only reason I can think of for a North American Invasion.
The only way I could see it happening is if there was a cyber attack on the missle defense system and power grids. I don't know if this is even possible as I would assume it would all need to happen near the same time and the US has to have counter measures and breaks to prevent a systemic attack.
Maybe EMP's? If you could narrowly focus and aim an emp blast, similar to lacing a target or into a hand held weapon, could you not disable something as large as a city or base, gunship or carier etc leaving our skies and shores far more suseptable to a successful attack? Air superiority and Naval power have historically given militaries the greatest advantages, if they have them and we don't to some extent is the only way I could see a possible invasion even remotely possible.
What would an invading force do when they got here and how would they get in our borders? Obviously our Navy is the most dominant force in the world so I would asume they come in through the vast rural Canadian shoreline/Alaska and sweep west to east to the oil sands and try to choke us from there.
If a unified Chineese and Russian ground force came south from there and attempted to enter our borders with our defense and power systems down or worse used against us with very little fuel could they defeat us through a ground campaign? Our millitary is an awesome fighting force, but the key would be the gun loving American people. I would think it comes down to a numbers game and we would be greatly out numbered. A combined force of the Chineese adn Russian is about 5 million, but have hundreds of millions of millitary aged men and women. Our active and reserve forces are around 3 million and about 140 million millitary aged men and women.
Obviously we are Americans and would fight to the death and I would say every single American defending their home is worth 10 invaders, but could our dependency on technology and fossil fuels be the focul point of the U.S.'s demise?
When it comes to energy are there any real allies when it's running out or is it every man for themselves where allegences are held hostage by our enemies? This is obviously not something that would happen now(or ever), but hypothetically in the future.
I don't think there could be a complete takeover of the US, but rather push our borders back to say the Mason-Dixon Line at the worst. This would allow us access to the closest source of fossil fuels left and the Navy to gaurd from the South.
I don't know why I'm posting this right now(nursing a wicked hangover) and people probably think I'm crazy, but there it is. I haven't seen the new Red Dawn and have no idea what the plot line is, but now I feel compelled to watch it and two of my favorite shows Doomesday Preppers and Man vs Wild. I heard the new Red Dawn was so bad they shot it years ago and just realeased it this year which is why I haven't even considered paying for it, so I probably already know the answer to this, but is it even worth seeing now that I've gone off on this rant? The first Red Dawn was one of my favorite films growing up.
I think you're still drunk.
Hyper Crush sampled Billy Madison in their song "Chead"
From the final part of the academic decathlon in the movie Billy Madison. The actor is Jim Downey (ty for Clarification) formerly of SNL. I couldn't find a good version to use for a sound board, so I decided to upload my own.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

MrTrilliondollarman wins by a landslide for his devotion to his religion called ignorance. Words can't express how sad it is to see a closet homosexual thats so mad at himself for the way he feels about other men. So much so, that he feels the need to bash everyone and everything that doesn't agree with what his Mommy told him growing up. This guy doesn't need facts, he has his religion on his side.
Mastersabersmen wins with the most insane comment. He attacks Squishyy123 calling him a Bigot for laughing at the video tags. I don't think he even knew what suishyy123 was saying. Ignorance really is bliss for some people.
HAHAHa........I literally just spit out my Gatorade all over my ipad while watching the video you posted.
Didn't read the novel, but yes, we can be invaded. Anyone can be. I am sure the Romans though they were going to make it forever.
Personally if it did happen, I would be more worried about friendly fire from all the gun carrying rednecks around these parts.

I think we'd be almost impossible to occupy due to the force it would require, too many people, varying landscapes, geography is just huge.
If we still have guns, we'd be almost impossible to conquer with 100 million gun owners.
someone would have to think our resources were valuable enough to wreck the entire world economy.
I think China and Russia are much smarter than that and would prefer to conquer us economically.
This. Even if the did invade, the occupation would be so costly that it would drain on them. Well, maybe just the occupation of the Rockies, Plains, Midwest, and the South.
My argument is if the world's supply of fossil fuels ends up running very low say faster than we expect the economies will already be crippled to an extent as would most basic functions of a society.
I saw first hand with Sandy, I told everyone to fill up prior to the storm, they didn't listen. I had a friend wait 4 hours at one gas station, just to get within 10 cars or so of the pump before the station ran out of gas. He then waited in another line at another station and ran out of gas while in line along with numerous other people who all had to push their cars up to the pumps.
The only way anyone would step is if it was an all out necessity for their survival and a serious case of jelly.
If you came down here to Texas you'd know the US is already being invaded
The problem is MADD is still goona come into play. If those two nations were to try and move on us we would know it pretty much as soon as the decision was made. If were able to hit back 1 CBG could take out both navies easily. 2 and we would bomb the communists back to the Ming dynasty. We haven't played total war since 45 so I would imagine it would get rough on both of them pretty quick. Thats not even talkimg about our citizens rising up and guerilla warfare breaking out.
yeah but if you take it to that extreme, we are 100s of years in the future, we are not necessarily even a military super power any more, who knows at that point.
yeah I am in SC we been through some hurricanes down here. I lived through Hugo (cat 4).
I don't think and entire U.S. occupation is possible, just too big.
I do think they could occupy and hold the north west as their access point for supply lines to the midwest and all the heartland. They would come in through western and central northern states to first secure the oil shale deposits again choking us and our ability to mount a defense.
They would have all the resources they need and the sophisticated infrastructure. They would control the energy and a very large portion of the food production.
If an occupation happened it would be while some sort of strife/civil war going on already. China and Russia wouldn't have the Navy to support an invasion of the US but if the US Navy was already weakened they could make a move. China has too much invested in the US not to get involved, it's in their best interst to have a single healthy country that owes them debt. (this was the original plot to the Red Dawn remake). They would try to do similar to what Germany did with France back in WWII, a puppet gov't of their chosing trying to keep the people working and not causing problems. Ultimately they would cause the country to unite in a common cause and whip that A.
Alright, I'll bite. Who, or what, is invading the U.S. via Texas?
Simple answer: Yes.
It has already happened. The Jews invaded and took over America somewhere around WWII.

Looks about right. Last night at one of my favorite wing joints, there were 10+ of them crammed into a 6 person booth. It was one of the funniest things ever, wish I took a pic.
that was also after the initial european white-man invasion that killed off the american indians as well.
No, and China's effort to create the strongest physical army in the world is so last million years. Cyber capabilities will be far more influential going forward. I believe a treaty will be signed globally to forbid using non-human soldiers because without the risk of losing life there isnt enough hesitation.
Do you think this treaty will be effective in preventing the development of non human soldiers? Who would the treaty be between and how would it be enforced?
I know the DOD is all in on drones, do you think they can regulated as well?
IMO, it could only be accomplished by invading a peninsula (Florida, Baja California, Yucatan, etc), holding it and then slowly pushing inward. Trying to establish a beachhead on the East, West, or Gulf Coast (other than a peninsula) would be pretty difficult. Our infrastructure (can move resources anywhere quickly) and firepower (military and civilian) would make it nearly impossible to gain any ground using conventional weapons. With that said the invading force would have to establish air and sea superiority quickly to have any chance at all...... and that's highly unlikely.

America would get blown to bits, before an invasion ever occur.
Not likely though unless we become disarmed. Then it will happen for sure.
