I think we should do something similar here in the states. Starting tomorrow any registered Democrat/Liberal will see the government via the banking system confiscate at least 22% of your income. If you are Soros, Buffett, or Gates the number jumps to 87%. If you are government worker 58%, and if you are an actor/professional athlete 69%.
Let's see how many of these groups get on board to paying their fair share, like the common Cypriot.

If that face palm thing ever breaks you're going to need therapy
Is Cypriot really the term for a resident of Cyprus? Learn something new every day.
The situation is socialism at its finest. Straight up theft.
It was pretty disgusting how they went about the tax. Only a matter of time before the dems do it here.
I felt bad for the trees and mulch at first
Except not. But by all means continue to project your doomsday scenarios

Yeah. I thought it was a spoof the first time I heard it. Must have been a slow day at the lee household
You don't think leftist the world over are salivating at the thought of taxation through direct debit? I promise you they are. It's only a matter of time...you watch.
Wouldn't surprise. They couldn't upset their voting block with a move like that because most of them dont have any money to take.
Everyone's aware 1984 is fiction, right?
So you aren't down with shared sacrifice?
The fact that you think just dipping in and out of someones bank account with 6% of the funds shows just how big of a pos you really are.
Well unless I am reading it wrong it sounds like you aren't all that opposed to the Cyprus bank tax.
So you are the classic hypocritical liberal.
And the whole time they would be telling you how fair it is to take $1000's from some and take $6 from others.
Obama would come up with a plan where people on welfare would actually gain money in this situation. They could go from not having a bank account to having a savings account with more money than they have paid in taxes in a decade.
There are some real idiotic people in this country. Can anyone make up their own minds anymore and not just regugitate the talking points of some morons they see on TV or hear on the radio? Absolute dopes in this country.
Not guilty y'all got to feel me
Once again I must inform all of you of the recent Board rule changes in which we cannot bash or belittle other board members. Serious consequences and repercussions await you all. Good day. #kitemac
Just curious why would a government worker be taxed @ 58%? I can understand politicians, but some people don't realize that USG workers get paid pennies for the same work in the private sector. I don't see the point behind higher taxes for USG employees. Some are deadweight, but many are very legit/hardworking people.
Are you opposed only because you think withholding or some other form of taxation would be better? Or are you opposed to the manner and method in which these taxes would be collected?
I agree with exactly what you said
So you're blaming Obama for something that happened in another country and has zero chance of happening here.
Now I see why people hate Obama. If you use this logic then its only a matter or time before he starts WWIII and uses it to institute a Big Brother state.
It would be a smart idea. It's how America was finally able to pull out of the Great Depression. Have a monopoly on manufacturing because most of the other industrialized nations infrastructures were bombed into oblivion.
Of course, it would take 15 years under the current political climate to build one new manufacturing plant, so maybe not.
