Surely you realize the agricultural and mechanical school of Texas wasn't the SEC's first choice. They settled to get a foothold in Texas recruiting. You're being used! You aggy fans aren't too bright.
Don't count out Mack just yet. Texas has a loaded team coming back next year. Let's wait and see what happens. If Texas doesn't win the Big XII, you may be right. But I think "boot on the throat" might be a little harsh. Texas will always be Texas. Don't forget about TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Baylor. If Texas doesn't win, ATM will be the least of our problems. See, ATM will always measure themselves against Texas, (as evidenced by this OP), not so much the other way around.
Welcome to aggyland SEC! They're your problem now!

You are a massive homer. Mack is counted out. Period. And no, you aren't loaded.
Texas always being Texas means you will always underachieve grotesquely given your money, recruiting advantage, academics, location, etc etc.
As long as the SEC remains the dominant force in college football then yes A&M will surpass Tex for good in a few years, they already have surpassed them on the field & recruiting after 1 year, now the program as a whole is next.
Texas fans are all hoping against hope that Chip Kelly fails in the NFL, and they can write him a blank check in 2 years. Chip Kelly at Texas would be extremely dangerous.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
Timing is poor. Texas can't hang with Mack three years which is what Chip will get.
A FSU fan calling out Texas makes me laugh my ass off. Especially when talking in context about holding on to a coach too long. You guys set the precedence on that.
I am no Aggie fan but you are not thinking logically. aTm took a leap of faith and stepped out from your shadow. They made a bold move and it is paying huge dividends. Any unbiased person would tell you UT is in some danger of falling behind aTm. They are on the national stage and are attractive to recruits. Simply put, they are better than you right now.
aTm might not be a problem for you on the field as you won't be playing them but let's not pretend that they won't have an advantage selling games like LSU, UF, Bama, or UGA to recruits. You need to take a realistic look at what the Big 12 really is...OU and UT. Stop trying to sell us on TTU, Baylor, and TCU.
Given our money, recruiting advantage, academics, location, etc, anything short of a NC year in and year out would be considered underachieving. That's not the way things work. But it's nice of you to think so highly of UT.
Great post bamabum5 , this in a nutshell
The only reason they're in the national spotlight is because your team let them put 3 td's on the board in the first quarter. Simply put, they're apparently better than you too! Let's give ATM's move a few more years and see how this thing plays out before we completely write off Texas.
Yeah, they are riding that game a bit but don't act ignorant here. They destroyed OU and they have the reigning Heisman winner.
As for UT, no-one is completely riding you off but where do you go from here? Let's be realistic. Are you going to ride out the Big 12 and this longhorn network thing? You guys destroyed that conference to the point that even OU went looking for a place in the Pac 12. You have resources. I'm not sure why you're own television channel was more attractive to your decision makers than building a strong conference and dominating it on the field. You make plenty of money so what's the reasoning behind the decision when they knew the conference would be on the verge of collapse.
Take a look at what's happening. The SEC is winning titles and we are sending guys to the league in record numbers. This is the premiere league and aTm is building something in Texas that could put them on top of you guys. aTm has enough resources and history that they can take advantage of joining the SEC. Who knows what the future holds but you should be worried about where things stand.
Nobody is writing Texas off, but there is nothing to smile about as a longhorn fan. There are three coaches in the state of Texas that are better than Mack Brown. Art Briles, Sumlin, and Patterson are all head's and shoulders above Mack. A&M, on the other hand, is in a better conference and the recruiting has already taken off and surpassed Texas. Wouldn't shock me either if TT passes the longhorns.
No way in hell you could ever believe the last sentence you just wrote. If so, I pray to God that you never reproduce.
That makes us experts and we see all the hall marks in Austin. You can flame back but it's your situation rotting....
I've read a lot of dumb things on this board but this easily takes the cake.
Hey, I'm not saying anyone is happy with the state of UT athletics right now. Heck, little private school TCU has reason to brag on us now. You guys forget we've been playing the aggies for over 100 years and hold a 76-37-5 record against them. Right now they're riding a wave of excitement. But let's face it, one game, one season does not make a dynasty - and certainly doesn't warrant a thread like this! A bit immature in my opinion, but typical aggie.
I absolutely believe it because Mack Brown is an average coach. Was handed the keys to a Benz and turned it into a Fiat. Believe Kingsbury will be a better coach than Tubbs and "IF" he can recruit better than Tommy did, he will be pretty solid in the B12.
the way aNm and tx are recruiting, I don't see tx passing aNm anytime soon
Once Manziel leaves Texas is easily back on top and how weak the B12 is this season Texas will probably be going to the Fiesta Bowl while a 10-2 A&M team could remain at the Cotton...
That's a homer look at things. Sumlin will churn out stat stuffing, play making QBs. The major concern with Manziel is how much is he superman and how much is that system just going to inevitably make guys look like heroes.
They have nothing to go after so they go after the supposedly bogus sentence. Sad really.
They already got some good QB recruits plus Sumlin has shown 1 thing in his career & that is is offense will not be a problem he will develop QB's
what's even more amazing is how a perennially averaqe/below average Big12 team moves to the SEC and suddenly becomes a force to be reckoned with. The weaker conference schedule definitely helped aTm.
ECU grad, tOSU fan for life. Father since 1/12/13.
Can A&M hurry up and win a NC before the wanna crown themselves the new "kings of Texas" if you wanna crown 'em then crown 'em
Same thread different day
