The best part in all this, if it weren't for conference expansion Georgia would have played Alabama in the regular season, but instead they somehow lucked out and got Ole Miss.
Florida was schedule to play LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn, instead we got LSU, Texas A&M and Missouri.
Georgia had their shot at a BCS bowl and lost, just like we had our shot for the east. Georgia doesn't deserve anything just because they played Alabama close.
Florida beat LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State and South Carolina, they deserve a BCS bid over Georgia.
Are you guys honestly saying a 2 loss SEC team deserves a shot over a 1 loss SEC team for a BCS bowl?
Why? Because poor Georgia had to play Bama in the SEC title game and it shouldn't count that they lost.
Well if that's the case, than Bama's win shouldn't count either and they shouldn't be in the title game right?
Sorry but Georgia lucked out by not playing Bama, LSU, or Texas A&M in the regular season.
IMO, he's not trying to justify anything. He's making a case for anybody who believes Georgia should be put in the SB over us. It's a message board. Aren't we supposed to discuss topics on here? Sounds like you're saying Florida is going so everyone STFU and don't discuss it bc you're wasting your time.
Well that is pretty much what I am saying.
If Bama would have lost to UGA, I would still say that UF deserves to be in the game. UF had a tougher overall regular season schedule than both UGA and Bama. I'm certainly not going to be hypocritical as a Bama fan with what happened with us last year. UGA and Bama had our destinies in our own hands. Both teams knew what the prize was for the win and what would happen with a loss.
The same way Florida blew their chance. I agree with whoever said the two team rule is dumb. But it'll all be over after this year.
HERESY ALERT: I often think that the old pre-BCS bowl system was better; no weak ass limitation on teams from a conference under the guise of "each conference deserves a seat at the big boy BCS table"......you just played the reg season, and best teams went to the best bowls
I damn sure know I enjoyed having all the major bowls played in a single orgiastic day of CFB on january 1st.
UGA was in the SEC championship last year and didn't make it to a BCS bowl when the lost.
This post is ironic because Bama backed its way into the BCS last year, the same way UF did this year.
Doesn't matter if UGA lost by 1 or 30, they have 2 losses and had an easy schedule. IF UGA had UF's schedule and went 3-1 against top 10 teams during the regular season and lost to Bama by 4 in the SECCG then maybe they would deserve to go to a BCS game over a one loss UF team if they had UGA's schedule. No way a 2 loss team should deserve to go to a BCS game over a 1 loss UF who had the #1 strength of schedule.

I was not saying UGA or Florida didnt deserve it..what i was saying was both of them deserve it over FSU, and Wisconsin. I understand the system having Florida ahead of UGA because of the lose last night. But the system has flaws. What if UGA has 2 loses and was still ranked 4th? They would have to be given a BCS game (not sure how they would do that now)
Actually that isn't correct. No conference can have more than 2 teams in a BCS bowl. If UF is ranked number 3 and UGA is ranked number 4, the NCAA's hands are tied whether UGA deserves it or not. Until they change the two team maximum per conference in BCS games, UGA is the odd team out.
A little different cirsumstances this year. I am not defending it or anything and definitely think Florida belongs, but Alabama didn't lose to a team with the same record after 12 games and then get in to a BCS bowl instead of them.
This, plus the 3/4 rule only applies to the 4th place team if the 3rd place team in a conference champion and already getting an at-large bid. If for instance, Oregon ends #4, they aren't guaranteed a BCS bowl because Florida at #3 would also be a conference champion. I am sure Oregon would go, but they could also get left out.
The Rose Bowl blows when it's not the big 10 vs pac 12, nobody else has any business in Pasedena. If Georgia deserves any team's spot, it's Oklahoma or Louisville. OU is going to be the worst at large selection, Louisville will be the champion of the worst AQ conference. While the big 10 is abysmal this season, it's still not as bad as the Big East.
No, they knew the stakes going into the game. They lost and their goes their BCS bid.
Btw I hate Florida and they deserve to play ND for the title. This makes it the 2nd yr in a row Bama didn't deserve to be there
Your fear smells as sweet as Hershey, Pennsylvania. Only a person that thinks they can't beat us would say that we didn't deserve to go to a game that we completely dominated last year.
I would love to hear who you would have put in the natty game above Bama last year. OSU lost to Iowa State after we lost to LSU. OU dropped the ball as well. If people are sick and tired of seeing Bama in the natty game, they need to take care of business. We have needed help the past two seasons and the teams ahead of us choked it away. Not our fault.
Don't go lumping in FSU and Wisconsin. FSU is 11-2 and so is Georgia. Georgia is 1-2 against top 15 teams and FSU is 1-1. Georgia played fewer bowl teams than FSU. Georgia deserves to be ranked high, but it's not like their resume is head and shoulders above FSU just because they played Bama close.
As for the original topic, Florida has the best resume in college football. They are more deserving of a BCS bowl than anybody.
There's one more year of the BCS after this
Anyone thinking Georgia deserves a BCS bowl, I have no problem with it. Anyone thinking they should get one over Florida, is batshit crazy. The system is flawed. The SEC gets punished for having too many great teams each and every year.
