Plus Dembele, De Bruyne, and Witsel lol
Doubt it, they don't have Madrid money and they struggle adding players that aren't Iberian or spanish speaking at the minimum...just look how poorly Ibra and Chygrynskiy turned out. I think Barca keeps Fontas this year and lets him develop.
Yea everyone thinks they are going to get Hummels, but I don't see that being a good fit.
I think Barca gets Neymar, Thiago Silva and one other big name
The Germans have to be the favorites. But I agree that watching the home filed advantage for the Brazilians will be something awesome!
Would have to sell first to make that happen, they're already gonna have to get creative to cash in on Neymar which I still think is a done deal.
Thiago Silva just signed with PSG, I doubt he leaves.
Italy can be very dangerous in wc2014, with the best pair of young strikers in the world. Just not sure that Pirlo will have one more run left in him. Though the central piece to the whole thing with be De Rossi. Will need him to play to his best and lead the team in the same manner Cannavaro led the Azzuri in 2006.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
When it comes to the major toruney's never, "meh" the Italians. Especially when they are rolling in with top talent.
Lol true. They're caught between generational gaps for all 3 levels though, I think they'll be not quite experienced with most of the team and juuuust over the hill with some others.
SeS and Balotelli are already ballin, and we are talking over a year away from now. DeRossi is still in his prime. They main worries are if age catches up with Pirlo and Buffon.
Italy has SeS and Balotelli. Destro or Isigne may make that quality jump next season too. And Guiseppe Rossi will hopefully be back at full speed by that point as a more experienced striker to keep the young guys in line. Marco Verratti will have another year with a major club under his belt, and is good enough to potentially replace Pirlo or at least give him a battle for that maestro spot if Pirlo's age catches up with him. Marchisio is a little off form with Juve right now, but when he's on, he's one of the best box to box midfielders in the world. Montolivo has been playing well in Milan. De Rossi is a beast. Giach, Diamanti, Poli, Cerci are great subs. Bonucci and Chiellini are in their primes. Barzagli will still be a beast. Abate is around. De Sciglio will be a year more experienced, same with Ogbonna. Buffon has at least another two years of top level performance, and if he were injured Marchetti or De Sanctis can play.
There's a reason this very young Italy team dominated Germany in the Euros, regardless of everyone saying Germany is the favourite. Italy got unlucky in the final against Spain, but in the group they played them very tough in a 1-1 draw. Italy will be ready for the 2014. I'm thinking SFs for sure, if not finals. I would love to see an Italy Brazil final on Brazilian soil. The two most successful soccer nations of all time playing in the finals in Brazil. Another epic match like '94. Just hopefully this time, an Italy player doesn't sky their penalty kick like Baggio. Such a sad moment in his illustrious career.
To be fair to the divine ponytail, he played the full 120 seriously injured.
will take an implosion for Germany not to win it IMO.
Heard that before....then 'merica showed up.
lol. For any team to win a world cup, some luck is needed. One would always have to take the field vs the favorite.
Took Brasil against field in 02, and bet against them in 06
Mexico could be a sleeper. A lot of young talent
That doesn't count, that team was insane. The starting goalie for that team failed a physical for a transfer immediately after the tournament bc he had a broken bone in his arm....nobody knew bc he was never needed during the tourney lol
Yeah in this one the combination of Spain and Brazil at home would probably have me lay the money on the field, but Germany is going to be the overwhelming favorite.
Germany... I am a fan
F that. I don't want any other team that has never won a world cup to ever win one, except for America.
Outstanding write up.
