Especially Gamecock fans, I feel something, should I?

I figure so, he is no spring chicken, hope he succeeds and retires here, thanks lamp.

He recruited Jadeveon Clowney and Stephon Gilmore to South Carolina FWIW.

I would look for Charlie Harbison (at Clemson now) to potentially join him on the staff.
Nice, thanks for the info JC
What position does he coach?
Also what kind of recruiter is he?
Secondary. No more 8-yard cushions!
Huddles are for rookies.
Yes! That is what i thought.. but that is cool..
Good football coach. Old school kind of DC. He wants physical practices. That was really the one area he and Spurrier didn't always see eye to eye. Wasn't a big deal but Ellis would chirp from time to time that they weren't hitting enough.
But he's a good DC. He coached linebackers at Carolina. His scheme:4-2-5 utilizing a hybrid that we called the "Spur". You'll call it a talon or a claw or some other catchy name but it's a essentially that oversized safety that can play close to the line in run support or drop back in coverage. He's not the most aggressive guy. You'll see some cushion from the DB's. He doesn't blitz a lot either. But he fielded 3 straight top 15 defenses at Carolina.
Recruiting...good one. As our "assistant head coach" he was limited on the trail and had a small territory but as JC said he landed Stephon Gilmore and Jadaveon Clowney so those are 2 pretty good feathers in his cap.
You made a very good hire in Ellis.
I think he's an upgrade from BVG.
Probably a minority viewpoint but I think BVG is overrated.
They both were at miss state together
Coach Cheese was a WR coach at Bama twice. He was there under Mike Shula from 2003-2006 and fired when Saban came in. He's a great recruiter but an average coach. But he's coaching defense now so I have no idea how that's going.
"Because Bama now sucks just like FSU used to suck when we were getting dominated by OU. Does it make sense now?"- Sliger (FSU Fan)
You guys will be happy with him. He is a great DC
Pretty good hire, IMO.
What was the situation at USCe?
Nothing. He left for the HC job at So. Miss and went 0-12.
Me either. Jesus Cheist.
Great hire. Congrats.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
I see. I obviously lost track of him but remember him being a good DC.
He's decent. Won't put an elite defense on the field, but won't put a bad one on the field either.
And personally, I don't give him much credit for Clowney. Clowney wanted to play at home.
Thank you for he opinions everyone, preciate'cha'.
Except Theta.. JK..
HC'ing, apparently not his forte' ..
I give him a lot of credit for Clowney. Not sure you followed his recruitment much if you don't.
Chizik & Van Porno both got fired ?
and why the need for a new OC ? didnt the LOL coach-up Tebow & Brady into the players they are today ?
