How are your safeties looking? I only ask b/c you might have the best two CB's in the country and adding a hard hitting safety would be fun to watch.
Weak group due to lack of experience, not talent.
We have some highly rated guys on the squad but no one knows if they're worth a sh*t or not. I think eventually Marcus Maye and Marcell Harris will win the two spots.
Up in the air, imo. But, there is sufficient talent on the roster.
Evans won't be hard to replace, but a replacement for Elam's passion and love of hitting is something that won't be known, until the gms start getting played.

If the season started tommorow, Jaylen Watkins(SR) 6'0'' 187 and Marcus Maye(RFR)5'11'' 203 would be starting. Watkins played CB but slid over to Safety this Spring. Cody Riggs, Jabari Gorman and Valdez Showers are also fighting for time. And in the Fall Marcell Harris, Nick Washington and Keanu Neal will join the fold. I personally think Harris will steal a spot next to Maye at safety. Harris is the big hitter is the Elam mold, we'll see come Fall camp who steps up though. Lots of talent, not a lot of experience
Damn, sounds like a far cry from the days of Major Wright and Reggie Nelson.
Guys have to step up. I think people are sleeping on Gorman, I think he and Maye start. One of the writers on the UF site had something that was really interesting, almost all the guys in the secondary can play 2 positions so I bet a lot of the guys at safety will rotate. When UF goes to the dime Maye rotates to dime back, you got Brian Poole who is going to play nickle and corner but played safety last year. Watkins played corner last year but is going to play corner and safety same as Cody Riggs. I think UF can do a lot in the secondary.
I wouldnt be so sure about that, Harris will be better that Wright IMO. Nelson is gunna be hard to ever match
Watch Maye, Harris and Neals highschool footage. One of them will step up as a bruiser.
With Roberson and Purifoy there these young safeties will be able to be more aggressive.
And don't forget about VHIII, he will get on the field somehow. Since we are loaded at CB, I wouldnt mind seeing him play some FS this Fall. I think he could make a instant impact back there
There was Nelson, then Wright, then Elam.
I think a Maye and Harris combo have the potential to be better than Black and Wright.
Like everyone else who's replied, I don't get this comment. The guys listed were just as highly recruited as the two you mentioned. Muschamp coaches the safeties. Three of his safeties were drafted last week. The line will continue.
There's no question that the potential is there. Potentially, Maye > Black & Harris > Wright.
I was VERY high on Marcell's HS film ... think next year he could do some work, given he picks up the playbook/reads/etc.
Btw ... UF ... could you please wipe your asses with FSU this year? Thanks
Hopefully for UF's sake the DB's can recover after SM17 squashes there confidence sept. 7th.
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
We already consistently wipe our asses with all things FSU anyways, shouldn't be a problem.
I was gunna say, in the last 10 games vs FSU...We won 7 of them
i'll believe he beats an elite defense when I see it
Especially since Nelson would be ejected in every game this year with the new rule.
Suprised to see nothing about Brian Poole. I remember ND trying so hard to flip him around signing day a few years back.

He's a corner, not a safety.
My bad, thought he was a safety. How is he doing at UF?
