You know this will be a contentious debate so I dont expect to get a wave of upvotes, just wanted to start out this game's build up with my thoughts and see if we cant get 2-5 pages of good arguments formed. GO!
Much to the behest of both Florida and most FSU fans I think Miami will be better early on than Florida. Miami returns like 34 of their top 44 (2deep on each side) whereas Florida has to replace a lot more leadership and top end talent.
Miami will have a very big, experienced OL along with a very good Sr QB and a playmaking potential star at RB. Coley turns their WRs from good to very good. I think this game will be Duke Johnson's first against a good team where he really shines after doing his damage mostly against crap teams last year. Why? Florida's LBs will be green. Very inexperienced and most of the elite talent resides with the true Frs. Florida also should not be overly good at Safety.
QB - Miami
RB - Miami bc of matchup
Wr - Miami
TE - Miami
OL - Miami, push but all Miami's return whereas Florida has newcomers. 2 weeks later and i'd say push
DE - Florida
DT - Push, sad on both team's parts. Florida's DTs are the much overhyped Easley and the all "We couldnt cut it at FSU" squad
LB - Miami
CB - Florida
S - Push, I lean Miami but both will still be trying to develop this spot
Your thoughts? NFL, NBA will neither have started. Huge, rare matchup with the Gators. Miami might have 50K show up and you know Gators will fill out the seats.

Breakdown almost looks overly pro-Miami so to add balance or better summarize my waaaaayyyy too early prediction would be 34-26 Miami.
Lol UF beats miami by atleast 2 tds
Part of me definitely thinks that, if that's the consensus I can go with it. But I am sitting here staring at the matchups and they dont add up to Florida winning by two TDs.
I'm no good at breaking down parts of the game. But I don't see Miami getting the win. I hope they do but right now I just don't see Florida losing that game. I can see Miami keeping it close for 2-3 quarters but I think UF wins by 10.
I see no way of Miami stopping our power run game. I feel like we wear them down for 3 quarters and then run away with it in the fourth. Do think it'll be closer than a lot of Gators/Noles are assuming.
Florida's power run is definitely the matchup ruiner here. Canes have quantity but limited quality at DT and DE. Florida needs leaders to emerge on the OL and for these OTs to not see OG as an insult. Moore may have transferred to UF to play LG....does he get whiny again? Stuff like that.
Not sure UF has the backs for that offense in week two. Will KT and Jones be ready to dominate a team mentally? My answer as of today is no.....but I obviously am just guessing.
UF by 3TD's . Miami has no depth in any area they are a injury away from disaster. Also call me when Al Golden out coaches a quality opponent, the best coach on the staff packed his bags and went to the NFL
I should let a Cane handle this but your post would be right if dated one year ago today. They dont have great quality but they have depth next year. Guys who have played, are physically ready, etc.
They lack depth at RB and S in particular but to say "Any area" just makes you wrong. And using depth as a main argument for a week two matchup seems misplaced.
Admittedly, I was very hard on Jones as a RB coming outta HS. I didn't think he'd be an every down back. Thought he'd be a H-back. Didn't think he ran with good pad level or enough power.
As the season progressed, Jones proved me wrong. Maybe I'm setting myself up with high expectations but that's what the preseason is for, right? I think Jones is gonna be a great back for us.
And from all indications, KT is proving to be the son of a NFLer with his approach to the film room and weight room. I don't feel comfortable proclaiming he'll be an All-SEC RB yet. Until I see him play a down, I'll just say I have high hopes.
Don't forget Burton, Joyer, Brown and Lane.
UF by 3TD's maybe when they play you guys but it will be a close game
I don't care if you guys call me a homer but I have no doubt we'll beat Florida in September.
We have one of the best OL in CFB with all 5 starters are Future NFL players.
The Defense will better than last yrs and the run D will be better, If Gillislee was returning then I would be worried but I'm not.

Wouldn't have a problem saying you beat UF but you have no doubt you do? How much do you expect to beat them by?

I would give every spot on defense to UF with the exception of LBers.
It will be a 7 point game. Driskell and their WR's are trash and don't worry me at all.
You see, that's the thing about a successful run game. It opens up the pass game. If we're gashing your DL with 5-7 yards a carry, you have no choice but to commit more defenders to the box. And with that, Driskel, even with a tad bit of offseason improvement, can pick your secondary apart.
That's why we have to score first get at least a 10-14 point lead and make you guys 1 dimensional, like in the Louisville game
Another thing you have to take into consideration is all DBs coaching staff turnover Miami suffered. They have a different guy calling the plays in the second week of the season. That's not a lot of time to work out links.
I just don't see Miami, regardless of how many defensive starters return, shutting down what we want to do on offseason in any way, shape, form or fashion.
While I see our defense getting pressure on Morris and causing him to turn it over a few times.
And I haven't even approached Duke. How is he gonna get his?
I want Miami to win but I feel UF wins by a touchdown.
The best case scenario is Miami wins by a lot but at a cost and they lose some key players.
Even in that game, we didn't have to be one dimensional. No clue why the coaches abandoned the run game. Sometimes coaches have too much pride and that comes back to haunt them.
I don't wanna take any credit away from what Charlie and his squad did. But that was just the perfect storm for them in those first few possessions.
And don't make the mistake of thinking Morris is even half the QB that Teddy Bridgewater is.
LOL we have the same defense staff and Morris has maybe the best OL in America so you have to send 6 guys to pressure him and if you do that he will pick your defense apart.
Duke will get his no matter who he's facing, he shared the carries last yr so it was hard for him to get in rhythm.
Another way our coaches messed up the Louisville game was Dan Quinn refusing to keep us in nickel. UL's WRs were killing our LBs. But I digress...
Like I said no one is scared of Florida and they will go down in September an then refuse to play us for another 15 yrs.
I know he didn't just say " Driskel can pick somebody apart-". !!
Like his own team!!
((Like only 30 million people witnessed that-))
