This is just my opinion.
I for one am not am not a Christian or any other religion, but I am not an atheist either. I guess I just believe in god away from all organized religion.
God can do both. God can know all the possibilities throughout our life. Therefore, we are free to choose as we will. Just because god can see the future doesn't mean there is only one future. There are infinitely many possibilities during a given life span. Because he is omniscient, he can know all of them. Unless the definition of omniscient has changed from 'all-knowing'. If we didn't have free will could god still be considered omnibenevolent? I don't think so. How could someone control our every move be considered good. However, since god is omniscient, omnibenevolent, and omnipotent wouldn't he be able to step in and save us at any given sign of trouble? Well, he could do that, but then that wouldn't be free will and god couldn't be omnibenevolent. However, God could create an inclination to choose good over evil. If he put those inclinations into us from the start could we have free will. No, not likely. However, I think it would be okay if there were outside influences (a.k.a - Bible, Heaven (to be good) Hell (to not be bad).
I have over 300 confirmed kills...etc. etc.
An omnibenevolent, omnipotent, and omniscient god is impossible in a universe with any evil.
Of course, omnipotence itself is impossible. The classic stoner question, "Could jesus microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it" applies. If no, or if yes, he is not omnipotent.
Unfortunately, these answers do not jive with an additional restriction our no-so-talkative friend has placed on himself: God has a (read: singular) plan for us.
It is impossible for you to prove 100% that God does not exist so you're just wasting your time bro and Lulz that you use wiki has your sources..
There's more proof that a Christian god doesn't exist (see above, logical fallacies of an allegedly omnipotent God) than there has ever been of his existence in the entirety of human history.
But hey, don't let that get to you.
Don't think that's what he's trying to do, you would know that if you weren't being so defensive and actually approached a topic like this with an open mind.
Why So Serious?
Neither you nor I can define Gods limitations..
Noone knows what God can or can't do because He is God.. unmatched by a mere mortal or human on this earth ..
Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna whoop a few asses for you. You tell me who is breaking into these people houses, putting a gun to their head and forcing them to open and read threads they don't want to. I'll track em down and kick their asses.
If the mods can't stop people from forcing other posters to read threads they don't want to, by gosh Smitty gonna step up to the plate and take care of bizness.
Seriously, this may be your dumbest post yet, and that is really saying something.
Once again, someone is trying to tell us that we should listen to them about what god is. Then they admit they have no idea to begin with.
I find this whole thread amusing. Here's all I have to say... We're all going to die and whether you believe in God or not, you're gonna be praying on your death bed, so what does that tell you?
Here's the other thing, from an atheist's perspective, I tell them this, " If I pray to God every day and die and there's no God, who did it hurt in the first place? If I do and there is, I win AGAIN."
Faith is everything. Even ask guys like Wooden, Phil Jackson and Jobs and anybody else who's seen Dead Man Walking.
At the same token, to each his own. If that's what you believe, God(pun intended) bless you.
That's also why there's separation of church and state.
If you aren't willing to listen to people who believe in Jesus, then why should we listen to you?
Good point, but just praying to God will not get you into Heaven
Can't trick yourself into believing in God nor can you trick an omnipotent being.
I think for most people the "God knows" viewpoint when it comes to all of life's choices and outcomes is a way to cope with bad situations. I'm not saying it's wrong to do so, but I think it's easier to get over, say, falling down a flight if stairs and breaking both of your legs if you tell yourself, "God knew this was going to happen; just part of His plan."
Personally, I think God knows all of the potential outcomes but NOT what we will choose. That's our free will.
Ah... good old false dichotomy. Sure hope you pick the right christian sect out of the 35,000 different ones. That is of course if the christian god is the right god.
Please, like you have listened to anyone in this thread.
It is impossible for you to prove 100% that purple Carmufleplumkins do not exist
Where free will refers to God or religion.
God gives us free will to chose to follow him or to not follow him.
Boy, what a generous choice: "Sure, you can choose not to follow me, but I'll damn you to an eternity of pain and suffering if you don't. Totally free choice though."
Other people who offer you similar choices:
Look at why you have to make that choice. Break Gods laws then the penalty is damnation. I am one that is happy God gave us one way to overcome that damnation.
Analogous: If you don't listen to the mugger, he will shoot you in the head. I for one, am glad he'll give me a way to overcome being shot in the head.
Two different things.......sorry but a mugger is not the creator.
If the creator creates, the creation has to play by the creators rules.
God gives you the free will to follow him or too not follow him. So that is not a dictator ship "or holding a gun to your head" at all. He also gives you the consequences if you "choose" not to follow him.
