I was re-watching the SEC Championship Game last night and man, Georgia's returning a potent offense. Pretty much every key contributor -- other than Tavarres King -- is returning. So, my question for you Dawgs fans is; would any of you care to give the Blue Board a rundown of who you project to be your defensive starters, as well as some of the key reserves? Losing 8 defensive players in the draft (7 starters) is a lot.
SAM- James Deloach
ILB- Amarlo Herrera
ILB- Ramik WIlson
WIll- Jordan Jenkins
SS- Josh Harvey-Clemons
FS- Tray Matthews
CB- Sheldon Dawson
In Nickel Harvey-Clemons slides over to the slot and the other DB spot is still up in the air.
Toby Johnson a JUCO transfer will see a lot of playing time on the Dline and Leonard Floyd should shake up the OLB spot opposite of Jordan Jenkins.
Supposedly our 1st and 2nd team Dline are as close competition wise as they can be, and that sounds like a good thing but it might be bad. Only because they didn't play much at all last year, so either they got a lot better since the season or we might be taking a step back. Our run defense literally can't get any worse so that's a plus.
Facing Clemson, South Carolina, and LSU in one month is going to be tough, and we will find out how good they are quick.

Thanks. Depending on how that group plays, Georgia can be pretty damn good. Your offense should be able to score on anyone.
I hope so, man. The season just needs to hurry up.
I expect Johnathan Taylor to have a large impact on the DL this year also.
Anything will be better than the defense we had last year, they sucked.
I do too. Just don't know if it will be at nose or end, and I have high hopes for Ray Drew. The talent is there no doubt.
Dawgs should have much better depth at almost every position this year. Will be interesting to see who steps up and grabs hold of these spots.
yep we do and we have some jucos coming in who will compete for playing time right away with fluker and kennar johnson in the secondary. rumph and getting michael bennett back is only going to make our offense that much more explosive and this is an offense that lead the country in yards per play.
Johnny Dwight commits to Bama on 6/4/13 ranked the 44th DT in the nation by 247sports and 87 rating a 3 star. Now see the Bama bump.
Run D was basically non-existent in the 2nd half of the SEC championship. I take it y'all had one of those situations where the sum of the individual parts was greater than the sum of the unit, or however that saying goes (i.e. a bunch of good individual players, but a bad overall defense).
Too bad Bacarri Fudge won't be back to be trucked by another South Carolina running back or to have a pick grabbed from his hands.

Josh Harvey-Clemons (6'5"-230) at safety will be interesting. That's a BIG guy for a DB.
"Because Bama now sucks just like FSU used to suck when we were getting dominated by OU. Does it make sense now?"- Sliger (FSU Fan)
He is 210-215lb
He's a freak. Wish like hell Greg Reid had left early instead of staying and tearing his ACL. Not for a second going to say we would have gotten JHC if he wasn't there but his grandad didnt want him in the same area code as G5.
Why can't a uscjr fan resist commenting on a thread about UGA? Is it because y'all have sucked forever and you just don't know how to handle being relevant? Or is it because y'all are just so upset about choking away the east the past 2 years?
JHC is nowhere near 230, probably closer to 210. just one of those guys that can't put on weight. If he gets to 230 he'll be a OLB.
"...this is the game plan, we have no alternate plan"-Erskine Russell
My bad, the site says 220. 6'5" is still a tall guy for DB. Not many guys that tall can do it. But I know he's very athletic so it should be fun to watch him play. Hard to think with that frame he would stay so small too. Tape worm IMO

great ball skills, could play wr if needed.
A long, long time ago I wanted Texas to play a tall guy by the name of Limas Sweed at DB instead of WR like that. I feel like if they had, he would still be playing in the NFL.
very true.. that hurt fsu a lot and eliminated them.. jhc is just so athletic it's going to be great seeing him and tray mathews back there for us at safety..
What happened to Ray Drew?? Dawgs said he was a stud with his 4 sacks his sr year in high school
Rambo has 16 career interceptions and he did a heck of a job of us over his time in Athens. Rambo was a DGD for us and very proud of the young man.
We had abunch of guys with their eyes on NFL money. Cant really balme them but they certainly were not focused throughout the season. Great defensive players but a mediocre defense. I expect the defense will be better this year. Not as much NFL talent but a lot hungier.
God needs a Safety on His team. RIP 21
one of the negatives having so many jrs come back.. some guys played like they were afraid to get hurt and the suspensions really screwed up with team chemisty. the defense this year will be better. it's very talented and more athletic that last year.
