What level is your game at?
If you're not worried about really shaping shots and just want a straight shooting iron that is accurate then Ping G15 or Mizuno JPX800 irons are amazing.
If you are looking for more control then Adams CB2 or Titleist AP1 are awesome.
I'd always buy a year old as well. The technology hasn't improved to justify spending more on the brand new models.
I've always wanted to buy a set of AP1s. If only they weren't so damned expensive.
Is that up with Bandon Dunes?
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
I have been to Melbourne a few times but never been able to play golf while there.
Yes, PD, BD, and Old Mac Donald. Most prefer Pacific Dunes out of the three.
why do you say it's better than both? just curious. i've only played Pebble of the three
Pinehurst is amazing. Way way better than pebble from a design perspective. It just redone. Golf as its supposed to be played.
Teein' Off on Links
Actually golf as its supposed to be played is links style, IMO
Those courses get crazy reviews. My dream is to somehow get to play Sandhills here in NE. Then The Prairie Club and Dismal River here.
I have actually never played Pebble Beach. Probably never will either. Just not worth it to me. There are several American course that are higher on my must play list.
Bought the taylormade burner 'superfast 2.0' last week.
I heard there's a fourth called bandon trails
I also heard there's a 13 hole three par and a 5th big course that's not quite finished yet
you clearly don't understand pinehurst. Watch the US Open. You will love it.
If you consider pebble beach a links style course then you don't get what a true links style course is. The fact that a course is next to water should have no baring on how good the course is. It is the style you must play in order to get the ball in the hole that determines if a course is a links course. If you watched Snedekers play last weekend you will understand he didn't hit many shots that you would consider "traditional links" style golf shots

He was not calling Pebble Beach a links course.
And I hated the US Open at Pinehurst. The USGA should never go near table top greens again.
I have Mizuno MP 57"s and I'll tell you that they are overrated. I lost a full club's distance from my Callaway's, so I had the Mizuno's strengthened. You do get more consistent ball flight & distance control, but if you're not an advanced player, then that stuff really doesn't come into play.
I'll leave this here
Pinehurst 2 was designed by Donald Ross , born in dornach Scotland and inspired by royal dornach. Royal dornach , I have played, has the table top greens like pinehurst, which I haven't played
Just my two cents
I'm referring to the new pinehurst.
What, you want the pros to put on 11's like the do every other week? As long as the greens arent as firm as they were at shinnecock, then make them as fast as possible.
you post a wiki page for a pga professional to read,
listen, links golf is hard to come around these days. The equipment and the demand for perfect lush fairways and greens has essentially destroyed 'links style' golf that you would see played at places like Royal Country Down or Dornoch. There are very few left. Bottom line is Pebble Beach may have links in its name, and it may be by water, but its not a place where you play links golf. You play pebble beach the same way you would play Medinah, in the air.
